HBCU GO BRINGS SOUTH CAROLINA STATE-BETHUNE-COOKMAN SHOWDOWN TO PRIMETIME SEPTEMBER 26
Allen Media Group’s HBCU GO, the premier destination for HBCU sports and culture, continues its fifth season of football coverage as South Carolina State University travels to Daytona Beach to face Bethune-Cookman University.
The matchup marks the 61st meeting between the programs, with South Carolina State holding a 35–24–1 advantage in the all-time series. Last season, South Carolina State scored 21 unanswered points in the opening quarter on its way to a 55–41 victory. Bethune-Cookman mounted a late comeback with 28 fourth-quarter points, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
This year’s showdown could be decided in the red zone. Bethune-Cookman has been highly effective inside the 20-yard line, while South Carolina State has yet to allow a red-zone touchdown. The Wildcats must also contain Mason Pickett-Hicks, who is averaging more than 11 yards per carry for a Bulldogs offense producing 545 yards per game.
