Wolf Alice & Witch Post Light Up The Rooftop at Pier 17 on The Clearing Tour in New York City

There are few better ways to spend a summer night in New York City than on The Rooftop at Pier 17, seeing a band as great as Wolf Alice. To celebrate the release of their new album, The Clearing, the band brought their international tour to the city. Founded in 2010 by singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, the band is now made up of the original duo, as well as drummer Joel Amey and bassist Theo Ellis.
To open the evening, indie rock duo Witch Post took the stage and immediately energized the crowd. Made up of Alaska Reid and Dylan Fraser, the pair was joined by a couple of musician friends, and together they delivered a tight, engaging performance that brought each song to life.
Blending mellow indie melodies with heavier rock anthems, Witch Post showcased a dynamic sound that kept the audience engaged from start to finish. Their set served as the perfect introduction to the night, building excitement and setting the tone for everything that followed.
As the sun set over the city skyline and the lights on the Brooklyn Bridge illuminated the backdrop behind the stage, the crowd hummed with excitement for headliner Wolf Alice. Several fans in the front row had been waiting since the early hours of the morning and had traveled from other countries to attend the show. The entire barricade was filled with hardcore fans like these, eager to see their favorite band at one of the most beautiful venues in the world.
Wolf Alice opened the show with “Bloom Baby Bloom,” the second track from their latest album. The crowd was instantly as electric as the song, feeding off the band’s contagious energy. While the band worked the crowd, Rowsell stood on a riser at the back of the stage, creating striking visuals with the wind blowing through her hair and the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop. The crowd became even more excited as she approached the front of the stage, and the show truly kicked off from there.
As a New York exclusive, Wolf Alice brought out singers Bria Salmena and Julia Cumming to perform a cover of The Roaches’ “Hammond Song,” which they also recorded in the studio and is now available on streaming platforms.
The band and the crowd continued to feed off each other’s energy throughout the show, with other standout moments including performances of “The Sofa,” “How Can I Make It OK?,” and, of course, “Don’t Delete the Kisses” before heading into the encore that closed out the night.
Wolf Alice will continue touring for the rest of the year with headlining shows and festival appearances before closing out the year on the road with Olivia Rodrigo. If you’re looking for a night that encompasses everything live music has to offer, this is a must-see show.
