Honda is taking the family adventure to new heights with “Base to Captain,” a new multi-channel brand campaign starring the 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport SUV. Featuring enhanced rugged capability and higher ground clearance, the Honda Passport TrailSport stands out as the ultimate Honda adventure SUV.
The campaign launches with a dynamic thirty-second spot that brings the spirit of adventure to life through the imagination of a young explorer, transforming a family road trip into an otherworldly mission with the 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport.
In “Base to Captain,” the upgraded rugged Passport TrailSport helps turn the everyday family adventures into something greater, while bringing together Honda product innovation and the spirit behind the Honda brand slogan, The Power of Dreams. The campaign reflects the idea that dreams and ambitious thinking can inspire new possibilities, illustrating how in the Honda Passport TrailSport can spark a young explorer’s imagination.
That same spirit of curiosity and exploration can be seen across Honda, including in emerging areas of research and development such as space exploration. In 2025, Honda completed a successful launch and landing test of an experimental reusable rocket. Honda space efforts also include research into regenerative fuel cell systems designed to provide advanced energy storage and help enable a sustained human presence on the Moon.
The spot also highlights the Honda Base Station Prototype, a future-focused yet accessible towable RV concept developed by Honda U.S. R&D engineers that explores new possibilities for off-road adventure.
“Base to Captain” spotlights the full Honda TrailSport lineup, a family of Honda light trucks that combine rugged off-road capability with excellent on-road performance for weekend adventures. In addition to the 2027 Passport TrailSport, “Base to Captain” showcases the Honda Pilot TrailSport, Ridgeline TrailSport and CR-V TrailSport.
The Enhanced 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport
Starting to arrive at dealerships this week, Honda has advanced the rugged capability and bold styling of the 2027 Passport TrailSport, including ground clearance of 9.65 inches (+1.38 inches), based on a reengineered suspension that improves approach, departure and breakover angles, further strengthening off-road capability. The innovative TrailWatch™ camera system and heated steering wheel are now standard on all Passport TrailSport trims.
The Honda Passport TrailSport enters the 2027 model year with strong sales momentum. The fourth-generation Passport debuted last year and has generated record sales with TrailSport models currently accounting for over 80% of sales.
