J BALVIN BRINGS A CAREER-SPANNING SET TO ROCK IN RIO’S PALCO MUNDO
J Balvin took the stage at Rock in Rio’s Palco Mundo on Saturday night, bringing his catalog of global hits to thousands of fans in Rio de Janeiro. The performance moved through nearly a decade of Balvin’s music, from “Ginza” and “Mi Gente” to more recent material including “Perversa,” with the crowd singing along throughout the set. The hour-long performance underscored Balvin’s ability to move seamlessly between the defining sounds of his career and the music that continues to shape his global presence.
Balvin opened with “Mi Gente,” “Bola Rebola,” “Loco Contigo,” “Con Altura” and “Reggaeton,” before moving through a run of hits including “Amarillo,” “Morado,” “Azul,” “I Like It,” “Safari,” “Ginza” and “Downtown.” The production was built for the scale of Palco Mundo, with high-definition LED screens, colorful neon lighting, immersive visual animations, smoke effects and pyrotechnics surrounding Balvin throughout the performance.
The set also brought unexpected guests to the stage. Brazilian artist and producer Pedro Sampaio joined Balvin for their collaboration “Perversa,” before Melodymade a surprise appearance to perform “Jetski.” The unexpected appearances brought an added energy to the performance, bringing together two of Brazil’s most recognizable young artists with Balvin for a celebration of the connection between Latin and Brazilian music.
Balvin also embraced the culture of his host country throughout the night. At one point, he appeared in a hoodie featuring the colors of the Brazilian flag, before expressing his gratitude for the country’s warm welcome. He then led the crowd in a massive sing-along to MC Fioti’s “Bum Bum Tam Tam,” bringing Brazilian funk into the heart of his set and creating one of the night’s most distinctly Brazilian moments.
Just one week after performing at the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival on September 5, Balvin arrived in Rio de Janeiro for Rock in Rio, adding another major festival performance to his 2026 schedule. The performance comes during a year that has seen Balvin move across music, fashion and culture, with projects and appearances spanning multiple countries and creative spaces.
Away from the stage, Balvin has maintained a growing presence in fashion and international culture. He recently attended the 83rd Venice International Film Festival alongside Armani Beauty, where he walked the red carpet for the world premiere of Danny Boyle’s Inkwearing Emporio Armani. The appearance came shortly after he was named the U.S. ambassador for Armani’s I Will Eau de Parfum.
Balvin has also continued his work in fashion through a new capsule collection with Italian house Kiton. The collaboration brings together Kiton’s tailoring and craftsmanship with Balvin’s personal approach to style and will be introduced through a traveling retail concept at select Kiton boutiques across the United States.
By the time Balvin closed the set with a medley of the hits “Ritmo,” “Que Calor,” and “In Da Ghetto,” the crowd had spent the night moving through songs that have defined different chapters of his career, a catalog that continues to connect with audiences around the world.
