With the Latin Recording Academy’s announcement of the latest Latin GRAMMY nominations, fast-rising star JOAQUINA continues to be heralded by her musical peers as a groundbreaking artist for her generation. Already the youngest-ever ‘Best New Artist’ LATIN GRAMMY Winner, JOAQUINA has garnered FOUR new nominations recognizing her breakout debut album ‘al romper la burbuja’(‘bursting the bubble)’: ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album,’ ‘Best Pop/Rock Song’ for “no llames lo mio nuestro” and ‘Best Singer-Songwriter song’ for “aeropuerto”.
Joaquina’s impressive inclusion in the ‘Album of the Year’ category alongside long established superstars such as Bad Bunny, Gloria Estefan, Natalia Lafourcade & more, also makes her the youngest-ever ‘Album of the Year’ nominee for a debut album.
About her recent nominations Joaquin says, “I still can’t believe it. The first album I ever wrote, just me in my room, pouring my heart out in a letter to myself as I navigated the chaos of becoming an adult, is now nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ alongside artists I’ve looked up to for so long. I’ve always tried to make music that reflects life as honestly and authentically as I can, and to know that it’s resonated with others at this level…it’s a feeling I truly can’t put into words. I used to dream of just one nomination for my debut but to receive four is beyond anything I ever imagined. I’m incredibly grateful: to my fellow artists and musicians, to the Academy, to my amazing team at Universal Music, my team at Art House, my mentor Julio Reyes Copello, and to God, for the inspiration to keep creating and sharing my version of beauty with the world.”
Joaquina’s Latin GRAMMY nominations are a continuation of a stellar 2025 for the talented artist that has developed a legion of young fans for her insightful songwriting that comes from bicultural influences ranging from Latin music legends such as Juan Luis Guerra to Shakira, as well as trailblazing women songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Carol King, and historic women poets.
