JONITA SETS OUT TO TAKE 2025 BY STORM, REWRITING THE STORY OF LOVE WITH NEW RELEASE “CHANNA” OUT NOW VIA 91 NORTH RECORDS
Building on the success of her 2024 debut EP, Love Like That, Jonita enters a new chapter, rewriting the story of love with a soundtrack of rediscovery. Her soul-stirring single “Channa” released today via 91 North Records.
Jonita’s delicate vocals gracefully glide over an ethereal soundscape, beautifully complemented by the intricate stylings of orchestral arrangements. ‘Channa’ is about a breakup but goes beyond the obvious. It reflects on the shifts in a relationship when dynamics change, and you feel like you’re more invested than the other person. This feeling of longing and imbalance is something so many of us can relate to, and with that Jonita crafts a song that is as vulnerable as it is honest. Her heartfelt delivery transports listeners on an emotional journey that speaks to anyone who has experienced the pain of loving someone who didn’t return the feeling or yearns for unrequited love, proclaiming throughout the resonant soundtrack: ‘Feels like this means more to me than you, I really hope that you come through, Please don’t keep me waiting’. Of the single, Jonita expresses, “The song was conceived at a jam session with my friends Siddhant Bhosle and Soham Mukherji – I wanted to create something soulful, real, authentic to my life experience, but also groovy.”
The single, produced by the dynamic duo NEVERSOBER (Riz Shain and Soham Mukherji), is paired with a visually captivating music video produced by Jugaad Motion Pictures and directed by Bhavna Kankaria. Reflecting on the process of bringing the song’s visuals to life, Jonita shares, “Shooting the video really pushed me outside of my comfort zone and allowed me to explore new things. It was my second time collaborating with Jugaad, and I feel that Bhavna and DOP Nirali truly captured the essence of the song’s story. They made me feel at ease and encouraged me to be uninhibited on set. This was also the first time I had a co-actor in one of my music videos, and I’m so grateful to Gurfateh for being such an amazing partner throughout the experience!”
2024 saw Jonita making her significant mark in the music industry in a year filled with accomplishments and career highs that showcased her growing stardom. With electrifying live performances, such as her opening set for global pop sensation Dua Lipa at the Zomato Feeding India concert in Mumbai, and most notable, her debut EP release Love Like That, she underscored her cross-cultural appeal as a global artist, leaving anticipating fans to speculate an exciting new era.
