LADIPOE “MANY PEOPLE” FEAT. EMA ONIGAH NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO OUT NOW

Nigerian rapper and lyricist LADIPOE comes out swinging on “MANY PEOPLE”, a hard-hitting new single and video featuring singer-songwriter Ema Onigah. Out now via Mavin Records, the track is the latest in a steady run of releases building toward his long-awaited sophomore album, and a reminder of the lyricism that made him one of the most respected names in Nigerian rap.

From the opening bar he’s locked in, stacking “MANY PEOPLE” with hard, quick-witted verses that never let up while Ema’s hook carries the melody. The track moves through bursts of rapid-fire delivery, and the chemistry between the two is immediate.

It’s a natural fit. Ema Onigah, the gamma-signed singer-songwriter out of Cross River State, came up as a church drummer in Lagos before turning into one of the scene’s sharpest pens, writing for the likes of Tekno and Reekado Banks. On “MANY PEOPLE,” his melodic instincts give LADIPOE’s bars something to push against, and the contrast is the whole point.

Born Ladipo Eso, Poe left Nigeria to study science in the United States but fell for rap instead, co-founding a campus group before coming home to pursue it full time. A feature on Show Dem Camp’s “Feel Alright” put him on the map, and he built from there. 2020’s “Know You” with Simi topped charts across the continent, and 2021’s “Feeling” with BNXN became one of the biggest songs of its year, all without softening the lyricism that defined him.

Now he’s in his most prolific stretch yet, feeding his core fans, the “lifelines,” a steady run of music that all points to one place: a sophomore album, his first full body of work since 2018’s T.A.P (Talk About Poe)“MANY PEOPLE” is the next piece of that, and it lands like an artist with nothing left to prove and everything still to say.
