Loe Shimmy Travels to Lagos in the Video For “Purple Magic,” From Rockstar Junkie: after the party

Loe Shimmy‘s slippery flows and narcotic late night anthems have established him as one of rap’s most promising new stars. Jetting from his home base of Florida to the sunny climes of Lagos, Nigeria, Shimy shares the video for “Purple Magic.” Produced by frequent collaborator Zay Cartier, who connected with Shimmy on fan favorites like “Feenin 4 Mo” and “Crank Up Da Jet,” “Purple Magic” is a silky smooth and seductive trap ballad, as Shimmy compares his lust for his latest lady friend to an addiction and dreams up ways to please her: “Pretty girls, they run the universe, I’ll get you brand-new ring, upgrade the stone,” he spits. In the video, Loe Shimmy acquaints himself with Lagos, traveling around the city in a luxury SUV, stopping to give back to the community and dip his feet in the other side of the Atlantic.

“Purple Magic” is a highlight from Rockstar Junkie: after the party, the expanded version of his acclaimed 2025 album, Rockstar Junkie. The deluxe edition adds 11 new songs  including recent singles  “Jet 2 Holiday,” “Baby Z,” “Crank Up Da Jet,” and “Lost & Found.”  after the party keeps the vibe going from Rockstar Junkie, providing a smooth soundtrack to the debaucherous backstage moments that make the grind worth it. Rockstar Junkie: after the party is available on all platforms via Rebel/gamma.

Originally released in July 2025, Rockstar Junkie spans an epic 26 tracks without flagging in energy or quality. The album immerses listeners in Shimmy’s world, with see-sawing beats, from Florida sound architects like DxnteMadeIt and others, their instrumentals swirling around Shimmy’s croaking melodies in hypnotic fashion. Rockstar Junkie highlight “3am” ft. Don Toliver is having a major moment, rising to a new peak of #57 on YouTube’s music video chart (with over 13 million YouTube views since September) and more than 51 million Spotify streams to date. In November, “3am” reached #100 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the rising artist’s second appearance on the chart in two years.

Since emerging in Broward County earlier in the 2020s, Loe Shimmy has developed a reputation for being one of the most consistent and prolific rappers of his generation. The 26-year-old artist releases multiple projects per year, never running out of entrancing melodies or relatable lyrics. Fans revere Shimmy for his ability to channel his pain into compelling drama, delivering his stories in bite-sized anthems that equally befit late-night smoke sessions and top-down coastal drives. In 2024, Shimmy released three projects, ZombielandZombieland 2.0, his first album to chart on the Billboard 200, and Nardy World, the latter featuring “For Me” (Remix) ft. Brent Faiyaz, which has over 68 million Spotify streams and a GOLD certification from the RIAA. Recognized for his success and even greater potential, Loe Shimmy earned a spot on XXL’s 2025 Freshman List.
