On April 22, 2025, Memphis May Fire delivered an electrifying performance at The Belasco in Los Angeles, marking a pivotal moment in their “Shapeshifter” tour. The venue, a historic gem nestled in downtown LA, provided the perfect backdrop for the band’s blend of melodic metalcore and emotionally charged anthems.

The evening commenced with Elijah, whose atmospheric post-hardcore set laid a high-energy and haunting foundation. Wind Walkers followed, infusing the crowd with energy through their dynamic blend of metalcore and melodic elements. Caskets, hailing from the UK and new tour arrivals unfortunately had to cancel their set due to technical issues. Even though Caskets could not perform, the crowd was brimming with excitement for the headliner, Memphis May Fire.

As the lights dimmed, Memphis May Fire took the stage with “Shapeshifter,” instantly igniting the crowd. Vocalist Matty Mullins, exuding charisma, led the charge, his powerful voice resonating through hits like “Overdose,” “Misery,” and “Bleed Me Dry.” The synergy between Mullins and guitarists Kellen McGregor and Lucas Chandler was palpable, delivering riffs that were both aggressive and melodic.

Bassist Cory Elder and drummer Jake Garland anchored the rhythm section, providing a solid foundation that propelled tracks such as “Somebody,” “The Abandoned,” and “Make Believe.” The band’s performance was tight, with each member showcasing their technical prowess and passion.

The setlist was a masterful blend of fan favorites and newer material. Classics like “Vices” and “Miles Away” had the audience singing along, while tracks from their latest album, Shapeshifter, demonstrated the band’s evolution. The encore, featuring “Hell is Empty” and “Blood & Water,” left the crowd exhilarated, encapsulating the night’s energy.

The Belasco’s intimate setting allowed for a deep connection between the band and the audience. Mullins frequently engaged with fans and expressing gratitude. The crowd reciprocated with fervor, moshing, crowd surfing, and singing every word. The atmosphere was one of unity and shared experience, a testament to Memphis May Fire’s ability to foster community through their music.
