MICHAEL MARCAGI RELEASES NEW SINGLE “UNLOCKS ME” VIA WARNER RECORDS
UPCOMING LIVE DATES INCLUDE AN EU/UK HEADLINING TOUR, STAGECOACH FESTIVAL 2026, AND A SPRING RUN SUPPORTING SAM BARBER

Midwestern singer-songwriter Michael Marcagi returns with his most upbeat song yet: “Unlocks Me”, a hard-earned tribute to the curative power of love via Warner Records. The joyous new single arrives as the Platinum-certified rising star looks forward to his most extensive tour to date carrying him well into 2026, including an EU/UK headline tour, prestigious festival stops including Noah Kahan’s Out of the Blue and Stagecoach, and a spring run with Sam Barber. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Marcagi recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by making his Grand Ole Opry debut last month at OPRY 100 in honor of the institution’s series of centennial celebrations. Before year’s end, he’ll return to Ohio for a highly anticipated homecoming with a pair of special shows with John Vincent III on December 19 and 20, respectively, in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
Heartfelt, grateful, and full of hope, “Unlocks Me” is a fitting capstone for Marcagi’s monumental 2025. Co-written with Andrew Yorio and produced by David Baron (The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Jade Bird), the song travels from soft and intimate to wide-open and upbeat, begging for a sing-along as Marcagi’s vocals transmit vulnerability and — ultimately — genuine joy. Over banjo, bass, and a propulsive rhythm, he sings out, “She makes me fall, she talks to God / Steps through the door, round of applause / She’s got the hand that holds the key that unlocks me.”
Marcagi explains, “‘Unlocks Me’ is the first time I’ve been this open with who I am and where I’ve come from in my songwriting. It’s about learning more about who I am, and the changes I’ve gone through in the past few years, and the strange feeling of letting your walls come down and letting yourself be happy for once.”
The new release is Marcagi’s first since July’s “Humbling,” a co-write with GRAMMY-winning songwriters Amy Allen (Leon Bridges, Olivia Rodrigo) and Dan Wilson (Chris Stapleton, Taylor Swift) that playfully explores the “grass is always greener” mindset, finding Marcagi contemplating the fact that his friends are home with babies while he’s out on the road working toward a dream.
Before that came April’s globally acclaimed Midwest Kid EP, which included the standout track “Wish I Never Met You,” co-written by and featuring Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers, alongside singles like the poignant “Follows You”; “Flyover State,” which he brought to Jimmy Kimmel Live!; and title cut “Midwest Kid,” which Holler. hailed as a “nostalgic, uptempo earworm” before noting, “Marcagi continues to cement himself as one of the most exciting new voices in the folk rock landscape.”
Marcagi first became a rising star when his second solo release ever, 2024’s “Scared to Start,” caught fire with fans around the world, climbing to #5 on Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, picking up a stirring duet version with Joy Oladokun, and scoring him his late-night TV debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers — before going Platinum, multi-Platinum, and Gold in various countries abroad. To date, “Scared to Start” has racked up more than 994M global streams, 2.2 billion TikTok views, 415 million Instagram views, and 22 million YouTube views.
Building on his breakthrough with the raw and bruisingly honest American Romance EP, Marcagi then got to touring, quickly proving his mettle on outings here and abroad whether headlining, teaming up with the likes of The Lumineers, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and The Red Clay Strays, or making his mark on festival stages like Louisville’s Bourbon & Beyond this past September.
