MOROCCAN RAP GIANT ELGRANDETOTO DROPS GLOBAL ‘SALGOAT VOL. 2’ EXTENDED VERSION
Fresh off a Top 10 global album debut on Spotify, Moroccan rap icon ElGrandeToto keeps the momentum going with the extended version of his fourth studio album, SALGOAT Vol. 2 (Extension), expanding on the original release with new music and global collaborations.
While the first installment leaned into the raw, back-to-basics energy that defined his rise, the extension marks a clear evolution, embracing a more melodic, crossover direction designed to resonate across borders. The project brings together a diverse lineup of international voices, including GIMS, Spain’s Lola Indigo, Canada’s Charlotte Cardin, and France’s Sofiane Pamart, further positioning Toto within a global music landscape.
The extended version was officially announced alongside the release of its first single, “Mon Pays,” offering an early glimpse into the project’s next phase. Centered on themes of identity, displacement, and loyalty to home, the track reflects on his journey of leaving Morocco in pursuit of global success while still carrying his country with him. The accompanying visual shows Toto riding a Vespa through a tropical setting in a day-in-the-life narrative, balancing fatherhood, gym sessions, and his elevated lifestyle, while subtly underscoring the tension between where he is now and where he comes from.
Designed with a global lens, SALGOAT Vol. 2 (Extension) strategically rolls out with key focus tracks across major markets, underscoring ElGrandeToto’s ability to resonate across borders and command an international audience. “Ninja” featuring GIMS leads as the global focus track, while “Paradis” featuring Charlotte Cardin and “Consuela” featuring Lola Indigo drive targeted momentum in Canada and Spain, respectively, highlighting Toto’s growing influence as a dominant force across multiple territories.
Originally conceived as a return to his foundation, SALGOAT Vol. 2 channeled the intensity of ElGrandeToto’s early work while reflecting the scale of his rise. In just one week, the project has generated more than 14 million streams, with all 17 tracks landing on Spotify’s Top Songs Morocco chart, led by breakout single “SAMEDI” at #1 with fan favorites including “DOLORES” and “ROCHE MAN” following driving sustained engagement across national and regional rap playlists, underscoring both the project’s depth and ElGrandeToto’s continued dominance of the market.
The project is a follow up to the success of SALGOAT, which has amassed over 410 million streams, and adds to a career that has surpassed 2 billion streams worldwide. ElGrandeToto remains the most-streamed artist in Morocco and across the MENA region on Spotify for five consecutive years, continuing to lead the region’s global musical impact.
Born Taha Fahssi in Casablanca and raised in the working-class district of Benjdia, ElGrandeToto emerged with a distinct voice shaped by Darija, French, and English, influenced by Moroccan street culture, American hip hop, and French rap.
