Mr Eazi’s ChopLife SoundSystem Shares “By Force” Video

US TOUR DATES START AUGUST 25

Debut album, Chop Life, Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles, out now

Mr Eazi’s ChopLife SoundSystem has shared the video for “By Force” from the group’s recent debut album, Chop Life, Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles.

“By Force” features South African rappers Focalistic and Anatii, who come together with Mr Eazi to create a motivational anthem about ridding oneself of bad energy, and getting what’s yours by any means necessary. The video, directed by Mollana Burke (JM Films), follows the adventures of three eccentric and sharply-dressed debt collectors as they make their runs across London. As they move through the city, we learn that they’re not bagging cash but rather helping their connects free themselves of their own negative baggage.

Led by afropop superstar Mr Eazi and British-Kenyan selector DJ Edu (of BBC 1Xtra fame), ChopLife SoundSystem is both a studio project and a touring rave, putting a unique African spin on the mobile sound systems that are the backbone of Jamaican dancehall culture. Mr Eazi is the MC, or Minister of Enjoyment, for ChopLife SoundSystem, serving as the ringleader of the collective’s freeform parties as well as the primary vocalist on its recordings. He’s joined by DJ Edu, who anchors ChopLife’s high-energy performances with a mix of amapiano, afrobeats and Afrodance sounds, along with guest artists and DJs.

Focused on the amapiano sound that has exploded out of South Africa in the past three years and onto the world stage, Chop Life, Vol. 1: Mzansi Chronicles (Listen HERE) was recorded entirely in Cape Town and Johannesburg with a wide-ranging cast of some of South Africa’s most exciting talents. Previous singles from the project include the viral hit single “Patek” (featuring Joey B and DJ Tarico) and “Wena” featuring Ami Faku.

The group, which kicked off its Summer tour in Barcelona on July 7, heads to the U.S. this month for a cross-country run of dates kicking off Friday, Aug. 25 in San Francisco at 1015 Folsom, and running through Sept. 15 in NYC, at Webster Hall. Tickets are available here: https://www.pages.shoobs.com/choplife. The group will also make a special live appearance at the REVOLT WORLD summit in Atlanta on Sunday, Sept. 24.
