PAUL WALL AND DJ.FRESH SHARE NEW SINGLE “RIDING WITH THE TOP DOWN” – VIA PERFECT TIME MUSIC GROUP
Houston rap cornerstone Paul Wall and Bay Area maestro DJ.Fresh have just shared their new single “Riding With The Top Down” — out now via Perfect Time Music Group along with an accompanying music video. Shot in Wall’s hometown, “Riding With The Top Down” is a lush ode to Houston’s iconic slab culture, with a visual highlighted by candy-painted low-riders, elbow rims, and custom pop trunks. The song serves as the third outing from the pair’s forthcoming collaborative album The Tonite Show following the release of recent singles “It’s Necessary” and “Blantons Tonite”. The Tonite Show stamps the highly anticipated first full-length collaboration between the two hip-hop heavyweights, who fueled demand for a joint project-length release throughout 2024 with “Woke up a Millionaire” from Wall’s album Once Upon a Grind and “Stay The Course” off of DJ.Fresh‘s tape with Curren$y, The Tonite Show The Sequel, as well as “Boss Talk”, which featured fellow Houston rappers Trae Tha Truth and Killa Kyleon, from Fresh’s The Tonite Show (Deluxe Edition).
Hailing from California, DJ.Fresh has made a name for himself with his The Tonite Show project series, which now boasts dozens of volumes and has featured a star-studded guest list of artists that includes Jay Rock, Don Toliver, Larry June, Freddie Gibbs, E-40, and Wiz Khalifa, the latter of whom he collaborated with for standout track “What’s Hannin” off his latest album, Kush + Orange Juice 2. Paul Wall, meanwhile, cemented himself as a force within the Texas rap scene through his extensive work with storied independent label Swishahouse, under which he released his 2005 cult classic album The People’s Champ. Making him the first Houston rapper to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, Paul Wall will be celebrating the album’s 20th anniversary later this year. He also featured on Mike Jones‘ “Still Tippin'” alongside Slim Thug, a genre-redefining street classic that has been widely credited with propelling the Houston rap scene into the national spotlight, as well as “Drive Slow” off of Kanye West‘s Late Registration.
