Rod Wave Celebrates 12 New RIAA Certifications + Releases New Video

And Releases New Video For “SoulFly”

2021 is already shaping up to be a historic year for Rod Wave (Alamo/Geffen Records). Today, the melodic superstar celebrates 12 new RIAA certifications for the following: “Rags2Riches” (2X Platinum), Pray 4 Love (Platinum), “Girl of My Dreams” (Platinum), “Green Light” (Platinum), “Dark Clouds” (Platinum), “Brace Face” (Gold), “Abandoned” (Gold), “Thief In The Night” (Gold), “Pray 4 Love” (Gold), “Fuck The World” (Gold), “Through The Wire” (Gold), and “Letter From Houston” (Gold). Along with Wave’s monstrous achievements, he continues his blistering pursuit by releasing his latest video, “SoulFly.” Directed by Shot By Eye4 Productions, Wave’s glorious visual documents his triumphs in the rap game. From taking pictures with fans to hanging out with his day one homies, nothing can impede Wave’s imminent climb as music’s biggest superstar.

Nearly a year after releasing his acclaimed album Pray 4 Love, Rod Wave began his new journey for his sophomore effort SoulFly last week. According to HitsDailyDouble, Wave’s latest offering is looking at anywhere between 125K-150K, giving him possibly the No. 1 album in the country — his first-ever. Wave’s first single, “Street Runner,” exemplifies his precocious songwriting abilities along with his unrelenting honesty and is already proving to be a Billboard success, debuting this month at No. 36 on the Hot 100.

After selling 72,000 equivalent album units for his opening week for Pray 4 Love, Rod Wave toppled his previous feat with an astounding 75,000 with his project’s deluxe effort. Rising to No. 4 on the Billboard 200, the reloaded project included 25 tracks with eleven new records, including features from Yo Gotti and Lil Baby and previously released singles “Freestyle” and “Through the Wire.” The streaming success of Wave’s deluxe vaulted Pray 4 Love to the 1-billion-mark last year.

Wave’s illustrious journey to rap’s hierarchy in 2020 remains one of music’s most celebrated stories. Less than six months after dropping the Gold-certified Ghetto Gospel, the Florida rapper earned his second consecutive trip on the Billboard 200 top ten with Pray 4 Love, debuting at No. 2. That same week, Wave was also crowned No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Album chart, solidifying his stake as hip-hop’s premier rookie. Pray 4 Love was the most streamed album during its opening week of release.

Along with his album success, Wave’s smoldering run on the Hot 100 has been equally impressive. Since 2019, he has rattled off 14 Hot 100 entries, including his platinum-selling single “Heart on Ice” and his Pray 4 Love standout “Rags2Riches.” The humble flex of a record skated past the competition, earning him his highest-charting song, peaking at No. 12.

Last year, the former XXL Freshman was named YouTube’s Artist on the Rise. Wave’s growing list of accolades speaks to his indomitable work-ethic, which will propel him to another monstrous year.
