Rod Wave Returns With New Single & Video For “Street Runner”

New Album SoulFly Releasing March 26

From eclipsing 5 billion streams all-time to being the No. 4 biggest U.S. artist on YouTube in 2020, Rod Wave still craves more success. Nearly a year after releasing his triumphant album Pray 4 Love, Rod Wave (Alamo/Geffen Records) is ready to start a new journey for his forthcoming effort SoulFly. Slated for a March 26th release date, Wave’s sophomore offering clocks in at 19 tracks, with the lone feature coming from Chicago star Polo G. Wave’s first single, “Street Runner,” exemplifies his precocious songwriting abilities along with his unrelenting honesty.

After selling 72,000 equivalent album units for his opening week for Pray 4 Love, Rod Wave toppled his previous feat with an astounding 75,000 with his project’s deluxe effort. Rising to No. 4 on the Billboard 200, the reloaded project included 25 tracks with eleven new records, including features from Yo Gotti and Lil Baby and previously released singles “Freestyle” and “Through the Wire.” The streaming success of Wave’s deluxe vaulted Pray 4 Love to the 1-billion-mark last year.
Wave’s illustrious journey to rap’s hierarchy in 2020 remains one of music’s most celebrated stories. Less than six months after dropping the Gold-certified Ghetto Gospel, the Florida rapper earned his second consecutive trip on the Billboard 200 top ten with Pray 4 Love, debuting at No. 2. That same week, Wave was also crowned No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Album chart, solidifying his stake as hip-hop’s premier rookie. Pray 4 Love was the most streamed album during its opening week of release.
Along with his album success, Wave’s smoldering run on the Hot 100 has been equally impressive. Since 2019, he has rattled off 14 Hot 100 entries, including his platinum-selling single “Heart on Ice” and his Pray 4 Love standout “Rags2Riches.” The humble flex of a record skated past the competition, earning him his highest-charting song, peaking at No. 12.
Last year, the former XXL Freshman was named YouTube’s Artist on the Rise. Wave’s growing list of accolades speak to his indomitable work-ethic, which will propel him to another monstrous year.
