ROD WAVE’S ‘LAST LAP’ DEBUTS AT #1 ON R&B/HIP-HOP ALBUM CHART, #2 ON THE BILLBOARD 200
Rod Wave – the Rap/R&B powerhouse who has amassed a staggering 7 billion streams in the past year alone – is setting new streaming and chart records with his highly anticipated new Alamo Records album LAST LAP.
LAST LAP enters Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Rap Albums and Top Streaming Albums charts at #1 and the Billboard 200 album chart at #2, leading all titles this week with over 173 million streams, driving the album to 127,000 equivalent units.
According to Billboard, “Wave has logged at least one Billboard 200 top 10 every year since 2019…The only other act with at least one new top 10 in every year over 2019-24 is Taylor Swift.” Notably, LAST LAPopens as the third biggest rap streaming debut of the year and the twelfth biggest streaming debut of the year overall. LAST LAP is Rod Wave’s Wave’s seventh consecutive Top 10 album debut, fifth consecutive #1 Rap album, and his fourth consecutive solo rap album do 100K+ units, a feat unmatched in the last four years.
Rod Wave is no stranger to chart success. His last three consecutive albums have debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and LAST LAP’s two advance singles – “Fall Fast In Love” and “Passport Junkie” – earned Rod his 71st and 72nd Billboard Hot 100 entries.
LAST LAP came out of the gate last week with a blazing start at streaming services, particularly Apple Music, where it immediately rocketed to #1 on the US album chart with all 23 of the album’s tracks charting on the Global 100, four songs in the Top 10, and the #1 spot on the chart with album standout “25.”
The twenty three-track project features both advance singles, as well as the standout tracks “25,” the title track “Last Lap” – a heartfelt homage to Rod’s uncle and manager Uncle Dee, who tragically passed away in July – and “Fuck Fame,” featuring Lil Yachty & Lil Baby.
Stay tuned for more on Rod Wave and his history-making new project, LAST LAP…
