The EP is a vintage piece of work that is sure to age well in the career of Son of Mars. The EP was composed by producer Ricky Johnson and Son of Mars. The drifting, humming milieu of “First Born” merges dark, thrumming harmonic surfaces with lustrous fountains of diaphanous harmonies. As the music builds, Mars’ voice assumes potent tonal textures reminiscent of Ski Mask The Slump God, swelling with plush coloration.
“Anakin” offers intertwining patinas of sumptuous harmonies, akin to warm operatic fusions. At once alluring, tantalizing, and enchanting, this track exudes suggestions of the Empyrean. The Delicate chiming tinges riding on oozing sheens of glowing currents imbue “Anakin” with marvelous calming imminence. The final track, “Watch Yourself,” travels on surfacing filaments of polished platinum suffusions as a lofty voice infuses the trap-like music with brilliantly coruscating tendrils.
In the Summer of 2020 Mars continued to pique the interest of the press by previewing collaborations with two-time Grammy Nominated, Multi-Platinum Producer and Engineer Jack Brown. Mars linked up with Jack in the city of Atlanta GA in August of 2020, to work on upcoming singles and a project to release.
Jack Brown, who has worked closely with artists such as 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Ludacris, French Montana etc. Jack Brown said in an interview with FOG that the music that Mars and himself are making is like nothing he’s done before and feels confident in the upcoming singles and projects to drop. Quoted saying. “Not another artist like this in his time”
It was in Atlanta that Mars began producing a different style of music. Atlanta had been the home of trap music and influence is felt strongly in the upcoming music.
“As an artist you can feel the spell of Atlanta. It grabs you as you enter the city, an energy that can only truly be described in person”. – Son of Mars
During his time, he was able to feel the strong culture and influence of not only the history of GA, but also learned to incorporate their sound with his own Caribbean culture and instruments.
