Following a T18 at last week’s Wichita Open Benefitting KU Wichita Pediatrics, Trevor Werbylo surpassed the #TOURBound threshold of 875 points, which the Korn Ferry Tour is currently using as a fail-safe threshold to officially declare a member PGA TOUR-bound for the 2022-23 season.

Werbylo, a winner earlier this season, is the eighth player to secure #TOURBound status, joining fellow Americans Erik Barnes, Ben Griffin and Brandon Matthews, China’s Carl Yuan, South Africa’s MJ Daffue, and South Koreans Byeong Hun An and Seonghyeon Kim. Seven of the eight, with An being the exception, will be first-time PGA TOUR members next season.

“It’s a lifelong dream that’s being fulfilled,” Werbylo said. “It’s super exciting and super satisfying seeing a lot of the hard work paying off now.”

In 15 starts this year, Werbylo has three top-10s, with the high points being a T3 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open and a win at the Lake Charles Championship in back-to-back starts. Werbylo held the lead for much of the back nine in the final round of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, and a week later defeated Seonghyeon Kim on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff at the Lake Charles Championship.

Werbylo, 23, is the first PGA TOUR University presented by Velocity Global alum to earn PGA TOUR membership. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Werbylo played four seasons at University of Arizona, garnering a 2019-20 All-America Third Team selection, 2021 All-Pac-12 Conference First Team recognition, and helping the Wildcats win the 2021 Pac-12 Championships (their first title since 2004) en route to a No. 9 finish in the PGA TOUR University Class of 2021.

“I owe a lot to that system,” Werbylo said following his win at the Lake Charles Championship. “It’s a phenomenal system to get guys that have played well in college into the professional ranks.”

By virtue of his top-15 finish in the PGA TOUR University Velocity Global Ranking, Werbylo earned PGA TOUR Canada status for the remainder of the 2021 season. Werbylo lost in a playoff in his first professional start but went on to win The Fuzzy Zoeller Classic at Covered Bridge Golf Club, and eventually finished atop the Order of Merit for fully exempt status on the Korn Ferry Tour this season.

Werbylo has also been a cast member of Season 3 of One Shot Away, a six-episode documentary series following Korn Ferry Tour players as they pursue PGA TOUR cards.

Since 2013, the Korn Ferry Tour has provided 50 PGA TOUR cards annually. Each season, the top 25 players secure PGA TOUR cards via the Korn Ferry Tour’s Regular Season Points List, which is known as “The 25.” An additional 25 players secure promotion to the PGA TOUR via the three-tournament Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which is known as “The Finals 25.”

With six events remaining in the regular season, the Korn Ferry Tour is currently using 875 points as its fail-safe threshold for players to finish inside the top 25 of the Regular Season Points List and become #TOURBound.

The first set of 25 cards will be awarded at the regular season finale, the Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Aetna (Aug. 11-14), and an additional 25 TOUR cards will be awarded following the three-event Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which conclude with the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance (Sept. 1-4).
