Unplugged Performance, the pioneer in aftermarket Tesla upgrades, has once again pushed the boundaries of EV capabilities. In a remarkable display of strength and versatility, the company utilized their Tesla Cybertruck to tow ‘Dark Helmet,’ their record-setting Tesla Model S Plaid race car, from their headquarters in Hawthorne, California, to Buttonwillow Raceway Park for a TeslaCorsa track day event.

TeslaCorsa, known for its dedication to offering Tesla owners, both novice and expert, a unique racetrack experience, witnessed the versatility of the Cybertruck firsthand. Not only did it effortlessly tow the 9,000-pound load of the race car and trailer over the challenging Grapevine section of the I-5 freeway, surpassing other towing vehicles with ease, but it also demonstrated remarkable endurance and efficiency – advantages of electric vehicle towing over traditional ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) trucks, which often face overheating and mechanical issues.

Once at the track, the mostly-stock Cybertruck astounded onlookers by clocking an impressive lap time of 2:15. This was accomplished utilizing all-terrain tires wrapped around 22” UP CYBRHEX wheels, UP INVINCIBLE Carbon Fiber Fender Flares and by setting the suspension to HIGH, enabling BAJA mode, which uniquely allows adjustments to the Stability Assist and Handling Balance– showcasing the vehicle’s adaptability in demanding situations.

In a testament to the growing community of Tesla enthusiasts, Unplugged Performance made a charging stop in Santa Clarita, where they participated in a Cybertruck meet hosted by the Tesla Owners Club of Santa Clarita Valley. This gathering marked a significant moment, with seven privately-owned Cybertrucks present – the most ever at a single event.

“The sight of Unplugged Performance’s Cybertruck effortlessly towing Dark Helmet to our event was truly remarkable for the Tesla community,” said Zack Feldstein, VP of Tesla Owners Club of Santa Clarita Valley. “It demonstrates not just the raw power of electric vehicles but also their potential in revolutionizing the world of automotive transport and motorsport.”

Embracing their role as trailblazers in EV performance enhancement, Unplugged Performance has announced plans to equip their Cybertruck with upcoming street-performance upgrades. This initiative aims to shatter the sub-2-minute lap time at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, a benchmark every racer aspires to achieve. This endeavor not only highlights the company’s commitment to innovation but also underlines the Cybertruck’s potential as a game-changing vehicle in both everyday utility and high-performance contexts.

The Cybertruck has now become Unplugged Performance’s dedicated race car hauler, a testament to its reliability and superior performance capabilities in diverse scenarios.
