Volvo Car USA and Canada sales up 31.6 percent in August, PHEV and BEV volume doubles

Volvo Car USA and Canada reports regional sales of 11,768 cars in August, up 31.6 per cent compared to the same month last year.

So far this year the Volvo Car USA and Canada region sold 89,014 cars, an increase of 22.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

The company’s line of Recharge models, those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain, represented 25.3 percent of all US and Canadian sales in August, with the share of fully electric vehicles at eight percent. Compared to the same period last year, sales of Recharge cars doubled to 2,973.

Sales in the US alone amounted to 10,644 cars in August, up 30 percent compared to last year. Sales in Canada rose nearly 40 percent, with a volume of 1,124 cars.

In the US and Canada the XC90 was the top selling car for the month with 3,947 retail deliveries (2022: 3,343), followed by the XC60 with 3,464 (2022: 3,465) and the XC40 with 2,790 (2022: 1,280).

Year to date the XC60 is the best-selling model in the region with 28,961 retail deliveries (2022: 25,589), followed by the XC90 with 26,559 (2022: 24,480) and XC40 with 19,183 (2022: 12,573).

Globally, the XC60 continues to be the best-selling model for the company, retailing 16,476 cars in August (2022: 16,161), followed by the XC40 with total sales of 13,942 cars (2022: 9,766), and the Volvo XC90 with 8,319 cars sold (2022: 7,678).
