Yves wowed audiences at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall in what has proven that her rise as a solo artist is not just a moment in time. Known for her former work in the K-pop group of Loona and its sub-unit Loona yyxy, Yves has carved her own identity with the beginning of her solo carrier. The show definitely showed her evolution as a performer, as well as a story-teller.

Starting the evening with a powerful kick of emotion on “Loop,” Yves demonstrated the vocal talent by which she closes an electronic-pop-alternative R&B atmosphere in an intimate live space. Then, to create the mix of such new solo material collected, after having seen all those fans finally in the live setting experience, were the dreamy “Viola,” as well as new-peek from her highly anticipated debut release “I Did”. Each of their songs gave a small point of return to that place where Yves was taking the world with sophisticated yet raw sound with emotional elements. A fabulous light show demonstrated bright echoes of ethereal and at times even gritty feelings in the music.

But in the end, perhaps what most captured the atmosphere of this show was the relationship between Yves and the crowd. Her stage presence has been well resonant by years spent in laboring with Blockberry Creative and the signing with Paix Per Mil in 2024. Now liberated from the restrictions of that former label, Yves felt quite free on stage, her voice fuller and steps more confident than before. A memorable moment was when she shared some insights pertaining to her solo career and songs like “Tik Tok” – which was just a few months old.

Most members of the audience had been with her from the early days of Loona. Now they were living the moment as the musician was singing along to new classics such as “New” and “Better Than Me.”
