American experimental electronic artist Yves Tumor stopped on their EU & UK leg of their to spite or not to spite-tour for two nights at Huxley’s Neue Welt in Berlin. They were supported by Californian duo Nation, consisting of vocalist Fresh Jame and producer Funball, through out the whole leg of the tour.

The duo Nation offered a set full of very experimental soundscapes, with flowing transitions and hardly any breaks between the songs, to open up the first evening in Berlin. With their electronica, rap and dreamy pop influences, it can take some time to get used to their sound, if you are not already into very experimental and trippy music. During their set, the room slowly continued to fill up.

After the break it was time for Yves Tumor and their band to hit the stage. Once their set started, the performance of Nation was already almost completely forgotten again. The setlist offered a mix of older and newer songs, of course most of the played songs were off their latest album Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds), like “God Is a Circle“ that started their performance off strong and set the mood of the evening.

They showcased their unique multi-faceted and pop-like sound with psychedelia, electronica and rock elements, which quickly captivated and enthused the audience. The mixture of newer and older songs also highlighted how Yves Tumor alters and plays with the sounds and influences, that make up their authentic sound.

After fan favorites like “Echolalia“, “Gospel for a New Century“ and “Kerosene!“, which kept up the energetic mood the whole time. The night ended on a high note with “Ebony Eye“ and released the fans into the cold night and left them wanting more.
