ALEX ISLEY BRINGS HER INIMITABLE WARMTH AND SOUL TO “THE CHRISTMAS SONG”

Alex Isley, New Music, Music, Singer, Songwriter, Entertainment News, Warner Records

GRAMMY®-nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Alex Isley rings in the holiday season with signature poise, warmth, and soul on “The Christmas Song”, out now via Free Lunch Records / Warner Records. Alex’s rendition of the yuletide classic continues a hot streak for the R&B heiress, who just two weeks ago shared her electrifying Live From NPR’s Tiny Desk EP.

For “The Christmas Song,” Alex takes an enchantingly less-is-more approach, letting her rich vocal timbre and evocative inflections shine alongside a quietly dazzling piano performance. Her layered voice hits like a toasty fire on a brisk night, bringing to life a version of the beloved Nat “King” Cole song that’s subtly jazz-streaked and utterly timeless. “Although it’s been said many times, many ways,” she sings, making the message truly her own, “Merry Christmas, to you.”

The new release is the next step in Alex’s steady rise as a soft-spoken musical powerhouse. Most recent was Live From NPR’s Tiny Desk a nine-song set that captures all of the soul, style, and spirit of her long-awaited return to the series. Watch the video to see Alex backed by a band, bringing full-bodied power to songs from across her catalog, including “Good & Plenty” featuring a surprise appearance from Masego, and fan-favorites from her recent WHEN EP.

Isley’s critically-acclaimed EP WHEN includes emotionally rich singles like “Hands,” “Ms. Goody Two Shoes,” and the Kaytranada-produced “Mic On,” which drew widespread praise from tastemakers and fans alike. Rolling Stone wrote that “Alex Isley has the perfect voice for R&B’s soft-girl era,” while Billboard praised her “sensuality and intimacy.” You Know I Got Soul noted, “The project finds Alex Isley at her most refined and is all about soulful vulnerability and sensual restraint,” and Rated R&B highlighted how “Isley’s confidence beams throughout WHEN.”

WHEN also spawned the stripped-down Raphael Saadiq version of “Thank You for a Lovely Time” — a breathtaking sonic experience that blends Alex’s bold voice with the neo-soul icon’s signature guitar — and a smoldering live COLORSxSTUDIOS performance of “Fool’s Gold.” Always on the move, Alex last month treated Rolling Stone to a personal tour of Los Angeles, serving up recommendations around food, music, and nature that tap into her creative journey.
