Experience the Revolutionary, Unleashed All-New 2025 BMW X3

The 2025 BMW X3, with its enhanced sporting appeal, striking visual impact, and unprecedented versatility, continues to be the go-to choice for daily commuting, weekend escapades, and long-distance travels. The fourth-generation Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) for the premium midsize segment now sports a fresh design language, amplifying its exterior aesthetics and dynamic elegance. The interior, characterized by high-end materials, an upgraded standard specification, cutting-edge digitalization, and the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect powered by BMW Operating System 9, exudes a premium atmosphere. The new BMW X3’s driving enjoyment, safety, and comfort for long journeys are further elevated by meticulous powertrain and chassis adjustments and a broad array of semi-automated driving and parking systems.
The latest BMW X3 introduces significant enhancements in efficiency and dynamic performance for both the 4-cylinder and high-performance 6-cylinder models. These advancements align with a shift in model designations. The two models will now be known as the BMW X3 30 xDrive and BMW X3 M50 xDrive, thereby eliminating the letter “i” from the model name that previously signified fuel injection. Going forward, the letter “i” will be exclusively used in the names of all-electric BMW models.
The 2025 BMW X3, with its modern aura and improved product quality, lays the perfect foundation for the next chapter in the BMW X3 success story – a story that started two decades ago. Since its inception, it has played a pivotal role in the consistent rise in popularity of the BMW X models and even became the brand’s top-selling model in 2023. The new BMW X3, destined for the US market, will be manufactured at the BMW Group Plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a production process centered on resource conservation and circularity. The market launch is slated to commence in the last quarter of 2024.

2025 BMW X3 M50 xDrive $64,100
New design language shines the spotlight on distinctive proportions.
The fourth-generation BMW X3, with its new design language, presents an almost solid appearance with distinctive BMW X model proportions. The exterior design, reduced to the essentials, is clearly structured, combining large surfaces with a few sharply defined lines. The new BMW X3 is 1.3 inches longer than its predecessor, measuring 187.2 inches in total, and its width has increased by 1.1 inches to 75.6 inches. Coupled with a 1-inch reduction in vehicle height to 65.4 inches and wider tracks, this results in a potent and athletic look.
The large BMW kidney grille on the new BMW X3’s upright front end radiates a sense of confidence. A new internal structure for the grille, composed of vertical and diagonal bars, adds a novel touch. The BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting, standard on the X3 M50 xDrive and optional on the X3 30 xDrive, forms a continuous line around each grille element. The LED headlights now produce all daytime driving lights, side marker lights, and turn signal indicators using overlapping, L-shaped light sources. Full LED Headlights with cornering light functions and blue design details are available as options, as are M Shadowline lights.
The new model’s sporty silhouette is characterized by bold side skirts and a roofline that extends deep into the rear end. The prominently flared wheel arches give the rear a wide impression. The flush-mounted rear window is framed by a long roof spoiler and adjacent side air deflectors. X3 30 xDrive models feature exhaust tailpipes hidden in the rear apron. The rear lights have a modern appearance, thanks to a fresh interpretation of the characteristic T-shaped graphic and a satin-finished horizontal bar with integrated turn signal indicators.
For the new X3 M50 xDrive, there is a choice of one solid and nine metallic paint colors, and for the new BMW X3 30 xDrive, there are eleven metallic shades, including the new Dune Grey metallic finish. For further personalization, models manufactured at the BMW Group Plant in Spartanburg will also be available with over fifteen BMW Individual paint finishes.
The new BMW X3 30 xDrive comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, with 20-inch and 21-inch packages available as options. The optional M Sport package lends an exceptionally dynamic look with features such as 19-inch M alloy wheels and design elements engineered to optimize airflow and aerodynamic balance. The optional M Sport Professional Package enhances the M Sport content by adding the Iconic Glow kidney grille (standard on X3 M50 xDrive), a choice of red or blue painted brake calipers, M Shadowline lights, Full LED lights with cornering light function, and Extended Shadowline trim.
Sporty premium ambience and generous amounts of space.
The interior of the new BMW X3 combines the robust functionality of an SAV with ample space and a premium environment filled with unique style. The cockpit’s modern interpretation of the classic BMW driver-focused design is defined by the BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar, flat-bottomed rim steering wheels, and the new gear selector toggle. Other model-specific features include light elements in a contrasting color in the center console and door trims. This new design element is positioned towards the front of the driver’s and front passenger doors, where it outlines function buttons, ventilation controllers, air vents, and the sturdy door handles typical of BMW X models.
The interior atmosphere complements the generous space and contemporary versatility. The luggage space, which can be expanded from 31.5 cu. ft. to a maximum of 67.1 cu. ft. by folding the rear seats forward, is ample. An optional trailer hitch allows for a trailer load of up to 4,850 lbs, depending on the model variant.
The new BMW X3 comes standard with newly designed, electrically adjustable, and heated sport seats upholstered in Perforated Veganza, available in three colors. Options include an M Veganza/Alcantara combination in Black and two colors of Extended Merino leather upholsteries. For the first time on any BMW model, an optional woven fabric instrument panel made from recycled polyester with a premium knitted texture is available.
BMW X3 M50 xDrive with exceptional performance qualities.
The BMW tradition of delivering an emotionally charged driving experience is upheld in the new BMW X3, thanks to the consistent enhancements made to the inline 6-cylinder engine from BMW’s latest modular generation. The 3.0-liter engine stands out with its exceptionally quick power delivery, high revving capability, and impressively low fuel consumption and emissions relative to its power.
The engine in the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive (known as B58B30M2) is among the first to leverage the new Efficient Dynamics Next technology package. This includes the Miller combustion cycle, redesigned intake ports and combustion chamber geometry, and modifications to the injection system, ignition system, exhaust gas routing, and camshaft timing. The package also introduces developments such as switchable exhaust-side rocker arms and eVANOS electrically controlled camshaft adjustment. The engine’s M-specific features include a new, highly robust crankshaft drive, an optimized oil supply system for the pistons with cooling channels, and new main bearing shells and caps. The M TwinPower Turbo technology has been enhanced by boosting the turbocharging system’s performance and introducing indirect charge air cooling, along with dual injection for mixture preparation based on load point.
The engine and the 48V hybrid system work together to achieve a total system output of 393 hp between 5,200 and 6,250 rpm and a peak torque of 428 lb-ft between 1,800 and 4,800 rpm. The 48V mild hybrid technology, in the form of a crankshaft-mounted starter generator, ensures immediate response to every accelerator movement and optimizes efficiency. The electric motor, integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic transmission, can both augment the combustion engine’s output and reduce its load, depending on the driving situation. A model-specific, extremely rigid engine mount further enhances the engine’s direct response.
The engine’s vigorous power development is complemented by the emotionally engaging sound from a four-pipe exhaust system that also makes a stylistic statement: the twin tailpipes integrated into the left and right of the rear apron are a distinctive, M-specific indication of the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive’s position at the pinnacle of the X3 model range’s performance spectrum.
This potent powertrain, combined with model-specific chassis technology, delivers an impressive mix of agility, dynamic control, and handling precision. Standard features include an Adaptive M Sport suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, 20-inch Style 1036M alloy wheels, and an M Sport differential at the rear axle. BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting and M-specific design elements such as the M kidney grille with horizontal bars and the quartet of exhaust tailpipes all underscore the status of the BMW M model as the most powerful version of the new BMW X3.
Powerful, free-revving engine in the new BMW X3 30 xDrive.
The BMW X3 30 xDrive is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine (known as B48B20O2), which is renowned for its immediate power delivery, high revving capability, and exceptional efficiency. This is largely due to significant enhancements to the core engine, in addition to the incorporation of 48V mild hybrid technology. The engine features a host of innovations, including the Miller cycle that reduces the intake valves’ opening time, reengineered intake ports and combustion chambers, and an ignition system with an active coil integrated with electronics. Fuel mixture preparation is optimized through a new dual injection system. Alongside the existing high-pressure injection system, some fuel is now directly injected into the combustion chambers via a low-pressure system. Concurrently, the performance of the turbocharging system and intercooler has been enhanced. The VALVETRONIC variable valve timing’s switchable rocker arms on the exhaust side enable purely electric driving at extremely low speeds.
The new power unit delivers a maximum output of 255 hp between 4,700 and 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 295 lb-ft between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm. This allows the new BMW X3 30 xDrive to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a mere six seconds.

Agility and ride comfort up their game.
Both BMW X3 models exhibit significant improvements in agility, cornering stability, and long-distance comfort compared to the previous model. These enhancements are attributed to a body-in-white that is lighter yet more rigid, a wider rear track, and high-quality chassis components and control systems specifically tuned for each model. Adjustments to the kinematic and elastokinematic properties of the double-joint spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle have enhanced precision during cornering, while the 19 percent increase in the caster offset of the steering axle contributes to improved straight-line stability. The standard package of chassis technology also includes near-actuator wheel slip limitation and an integrated braking system.
For customers seeking even greater dynamic capabilities from the X3 30 xDrive, the optional M Sport suspension, which includes sport steering and M Sport brakes (standard on the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive), is available. The optional M Adaptive suspension (also standard on X3 M50 xDrive) enhances the new BMW X3’s agility while improving ride comfort.
Dynamic Damper Control, which offers electronically adjustable dampers with a less sporty calibration, is available separately from the M Sport Package.
Parking Assistant as standard. Optional Parking Assistant Professional with Maneuver Assistant.
The new BMW X3 comes with a wide array of standard and optional systems for semi-automated driving and parking. Standard equipment includes Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assistant, Speed Limit Info, and the Driving Assistant, which includes Active Blind Spot Detection and manual Speed Limit Assistant. The standard Parking Assistant integrates features like the Backup Assistant and a Rear View Camera.
Opting for the optional Parking Assistant Professional Package enhances the X3’s automated parking capabilities. Rather than solely relying on other vehicles to define the boundaries of a parking space, the system can now also consider road markings and curbs. Entry and exit from tight spaces can be managed from outside the vehicle using the My BMW App on a smartphone.
The BMW Maneuver Assistant, also part of the Parking Assistant Professional package, allows for the storage and automatic execution of more complex parking and general maneuvers using GPS data and steering trajectory data. It can record up to ten maneuvers with a total length of up to 650 yards. Once the driver confirms at the starting point of the stored route, the BMW Maneuver Assistant takes over the entire parking maneuver, including all necessary changes in direction. The driver can oversee the process from inside the car or outside (via smartphone), focusing on monitoring the vehicle’s surroundings. It’s also possible to quickly switch between the two modes, meaning that a parking or general maneuver can be paused at any time and then resumed either from inside the car using its control/operation system or from outside using a smartphone. If the Parking Assistant Professional is specified, the Backup Assistant can also assume control of the steering along a route of up to 650 feet that the vehicle has previously traversed forwards.
Driving Assistant Professional provides an extended driver assistance experience.
In X3 models equipped with the optional Driving Assistant Professional Package, the Lane Keeping Assistant with Side Collision Protection and Distance Control can be utilized during high-speed travel. For lower speeds up to 40 mph, the Traffic Jam Assistant offers vigilant, unrestricted hands-free driving to alleviate the stress of particularly congested traffic conditions on restricted access highways.

In the new BMW X3, customers can customize their driving experience according to their personal preferences using the three My Modes: Personal, Sport, and Efficient. The selection of a particular My Mode adjusts the vehicle functions, the content on the BMW Curved Display, and the interior lighting to harmonize seamlessly. The My Modes offer a well-coordinated overall onboard experience. With BMW Digital Premium, customers have access to a broader range of My Modes, including the addition of Expressive Mode, Relax Mode, Digital Art Mode, and the new Silent Mode.

Natural dialogue with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in the new BMW X3 brings a host of new capabilities compared to its predecessor. To enrich the interaction between the driver and the vehicle, interactive graphics are displayed on the control display. These graphics, for instance, show that the Assistant is actively listening to the driver’s speech and provide appropriate responses to selected voice commands.
For instance, when the driver requests to find a nearby gas station, the Assistant responds by displaying a fuel pump image. If the BMW Digital Premium is chosen, the customer has the option to select alternative graphics for the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Furthermore, while the customer is still formulating their command, direct text overlays inform the customer about what the Assistant has comprehended and processed.
