HIT-BOY SHARES NEW SINGLE”EAT COUCH” (FEAT. SPANK NITTI JAMES)
Finally independent from his 18-year-long publishing deal, the 3x GRAMMY Award-winning artist/producer Hit-Boy has shared his new single “Eat Couch” — out now along with an accompanying music video. Featuring an appearance from Spank Nitti James, the fiery track is fueled by unbridled one-liners (“I can tell that n**** broke ’cause he got cheap style”) and hard-hitting trap drums over the bouncy self-produced Hit-Boy beat. The music video features a re-enactment of the reality TV show Cheaters featuring Charleston White and Peter Gunz.
The new track arrives on the heels of “What’s the Deal?”, which marked Hit-Boy‘s first-ever independent release, as well as his recent link-up with Jay-Z, who helped him get out of his publishing contract, at the final show of Beyoncé‘s Cowboy Carter Tour. On his new era, Hit-Boyshares, “I’ve never felt more empowered as an artist…after 20 years in the game, I feel like I’m just getting started”. Hit-Boy has spent the past two decades serving as one of the music industry’s most sought-after producers, boasting an impressive roster of credits spanning from the crafting of Pop smash hits for icons like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande, to producing countless hit records for Hip-Hop heavyweights like Nas (helping secure his only GRAMMY win for King’s Disease – Best Rap Album), Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Z, who Hit-Boy is the sole producer to gift a Diamond record to for “N***as In Paris”. With the next chapter of his career officially underway, Hit-Boy is embracing his role as an all-around creative and artist while hitting a hard reset and amplifying his creative freedom.
Beyond his decorated prowess behind the boards, Hit-Boy is a formidable rapper and songwriter in his own right, having recorded and released seven mixtapes and numerous collaborative albums including recent full-length projects with The Alchemist and his father Big Hit (Black & Whites), LaRussell (RENT PAID) and BlueBucksClan (Biggest Out The West). Hit-Boy‘s name has become synonymous with Hip-Hop culture at large and he has widely been credited for shaping the landscape of its sound within the West Coast, infusing the region with a modern-day bounce through hit tracks like Nipsey Hussle and Roddy Ricch‘s “Racks In The Middle”, as well as Billboard-charting Pop records from Beyoncé‘s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” to Justin Bieber‘s “Right Here” (feat. Drake). After largely spending the past two decades crafting the sonics of Hip-Hop, R&B and Pop for A-list artists across the board, the new independent release of “Eat Couch” finds Hit-Boy leaning further into his work ethic as an entirely self-sufficient artist with his own sound.
