The forthcoming collaboration arrives amid a banner run for Jay Worthy who is fresh off the success of his Once Upon a Time series—including two albums released late 2025 which collectively surpassed 100 million streams plus the accompanying documentary and soundtrack to start this year. He is praised for his legendary collaborations like DJ Quik, Kurupt, G Perico, Conway, The Alchemist and more – as well as millions of streams on his catalog to date.

First arriving on the scene in the mid-2010s, Worthy has made a name for himself as “one of the most dependable members of the West Coast underground” as dubbed by Pitchfork and “Rap’s Forrest Gump” by GQ. Early on, he built an underground following with LNDN DRGS and gained attention from influential figures like the late A$AP Yams and Griselda. During the early 2020s he released acclaimed albums with Larry June (2 P’z in a Pod) and Roc Marciano (Nothing Bigger Than the Program) plus nearly a dozen more projects. By this point, critics consistently describe Worthy as one of the West Coast underground’s most dependable and distinctive artists. Before the Once Upon A Time series, he also shared an acclaimed collaborative album with Dām-Funk called Magic Hour. Through every release, Worthy has remained committed to preserving and evolving the rich musical lineage that connects Los Angeles hip-hop with the funk traditions that inspired it.
