JOBA SHARES DEBUT SINGLE “AMERICAN FEVER” OUT NOW
DEBUT SOLO ALBUM COMING SOON
After dedicating the past decade of his life to Brockhampton, Russell Boring (aka JOBA) steps out into the world to present his debut single “American Fever” from his forthcoming debut solo album. The single arrives with a music video directed by Matthew Castellanos (Tyler, The Creator, Steve Lacy) that follows Bobo the delivery robot as he attempts to make sense of his everyday life in America. “American Fever” was written by him and produced by Jason Lader (Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Neil Diamond, Elvis Costello).
Speaking about “American Fever,” JOBA offers: “A war cry. This song is a beast to interpret, it’s perfectly specific and satirically defiant. “American Fever” is a riff on absurd normalcy and global disillusionment. I want the song to be a mirror, I want to be a mirror.”
Earlier this year in March, JOBA teased this new material for the first time with a live performance video of “American Fever” with a 6-piece band in the historic Valentine Studios and played his first solo show with a free intimate night at Zebulon in Los Angeles that had fans camping over night to get in the door. Known for his electric performances and cutting, vulnerable lyrics during the Brockhampton era, his solo music has been highly anticipated in the aftermath of the group’s indefinite hiatus. He’s been steadily teasing that his debut body of work is on the way, so stay tuned for more news about JOBA and his forthcoming debut album.
