kuru shares two new singles “I saw it coming” and “zzzz”
kuru, the 19-year-old rapper and producer, has just shared two new singles, “I saw it coming” and “zzzz” –– out now via deadAir. A glitchy, Jersey club-infused outing produced by twikipedia, “I saw it coming” is bolstered by slurry one-liners (“In the summer I’m real bored/I’m tryna go to the beach bar/How the fuck I’m only 19/And they still let me in the beach bar?”) and arrives alongside an accompanying music video. The tracks follow kuru‘s recent collaboration with Chinese rapper jackzebra on the ethereal, cross-continental link-up “wakeup”.
Hailing from Maryland, kuru made a name for himself while still in high school as a pioneer of internet rap, fusing pop maximalist sensibilities with elements of trap, electronic, and dance music. He garnered attention in the underground for a prolific output of solo music and his production work with xaviersobased (who he collaborated with on buzzy track “MyAll” from his keep it goin xav tape), Hi-C, and quinn, before releasing his debut full-length project, re:wired, in November 2024 through deadAir (Jane Remover).
