Luhh Dyl Shows Off Melodic Skills with New Single “Play This Back”
Luhh Dyl digs deep into his consciousness to deliver soul-baring bars about his come-up and his responsibility to his community. The 22-year-old Detroit native process his pain with melody and verve on “Play This Back,” his powerful new single and music video. Populated by ringing guitars and soulful vocal samples, “Play This Back” is a heartfelt trap ballad, adding a new element to Dyl’s sound, as he uses auto-tune to juice up his fast-paced flows and alternates large-living flexes with expressions of regret. In the video, Dyl takes his racks to a local skate park, where he chills on the side of a halfpipe before retreating to his luxurious apartment for the night.
“Play This Back” continues Dyl’s run of high-quality singles that started earlier this summer. Most recently, Dyl got his flex on with “Speak On Fortune,” which followed standout songs “South Beach” and “Forgive Never Forget.” In May, Dyl released A Time To Hurt, A Time To Heal (ATH²), his new album and most ambitious to date.
Divided into two halves, A Time To Hurt and A Time To Heal, the 21-track ATH² digs deep into Dyl’s efforts to overcome his trauma, dealing with his emotional pain and choosing to find the joy in life amid the hurt. Dyl cultivates a sound that mixes acoustic instrumentation with thumping Michigan bass, creating a contemplative, yet propulsive background that fits his introspective lyricism. The album is home to Dyl’s acclaimed singles like the Helluva-produced “Rollin With Me,” and “Still Having Problems,” a collaboration with NoCap, and the standout posse cut “New Edition” ft. Babyfxce E, Luh Tyler, and 1Up Tee. With an additional guest appearance from Lihtz on the emotional intro “A Momma’s Prayer” and from internet sensation Shiloh Dynasty on “Way It Goes,” A Time To Hurt, A Time To Heal (ATH²) is available on all platforms via 300 Ent.
A Time To Hurt, A Time To Heal (ATH²) is the follow-up to Hear My Cry, Luhh Dyl’s October 2025 album, anointed by Pitchfork as one of the Best Rap Albums of 2025. Dyl kept the momentum from his critically acclaimed album, and his collabs with the likes of Veeze, Tee Grizzley, and Lil Tony Official, going into 2026: In January, Complex named him one of the Rappers To Watch in 2026.
