Myaap announces new EP ‘YOP!’ produced by Nedarb out 5/31 | “Rotation” out now
The woman leading the charge of Milwaukee’s burgeoning rap scene and infusing it with a contagious danceable energy, Myaap has just announced the 5/31 release date for her upcoming YOP! EP, and shared its lead single “Rotation”. Following up her recent stint as an opener on the second leg of Veeze’s Ganger Tour, the upcoming YOP! EP is produced entirely by the prolific Goth Money producer Nedarb. Making his name providing beats for artists like Black Kray, Lil Peep and the $uicideboy$, Myaap‘s link-up with Nedarb is a fusion of two worlds. Infusing the beats across the forthcoming 6-track EP with an undeniable Milwaukee bounce, YOP! is a testament to both Myaap‘s diversity and ever-growing hunger. It’s a fitting follow-up to her recently-released EP BIG MYAAP, NOT THE LIL ONE, which found The FADER hailing her as “a force to be reckoned with, effortlessly switching between melodic hooks and uncut bars” – continuing her gradual ascension. Although Milwaukee’s Rap scene has existed for decades, it has long been an unsung hero in the eyes of the mainstream – existing in the shadow of much larger, more prominent metropolitan heavy-weights. Truly Midwestern in its fusion of subcultures, it exists at the crossroads of America: Southern in its influences, Eastern in its sentiments, and undeniably West Coast in the celebration of carefree jouissance. A culmination of all these characteristics, Myaap stands at the cutting edge of her city’s cultural moment – backed by her viral ABBA-sampling phenomenon “Getting to It”, as well as other party-ready tracks like “Wham” and “Party Crackin” (3M+ Streams). Lending herself to the foray of TikTok virality and genre-defying bounce, Myaap‘s fiery energy and captivating wordplay are continuing to elevate her up the Milwaukee ranks as she expands her reach.
Following her recently-released single “Actin Up”(feat. Chicken P), a Soulja Boy-sampling, club-ready anthem, “Rotation” follows suit and reveals a glimpse into Myaap‘s charismatic bar work over Nedarb‘s production. Over a twinkling piano melody that Nedarb unites with a booming bassline and an insistent clapping rhythm, Myaap delivers a signature high-energy performance filled to the brim with stream-of-conscious raps (“All blues on me, Ben Franklin face / Better play it cool, better keep it safe / Money piling up, running out of space”), and a mesmerizing hook (“Bap bap, throw that ass in rotation / Make it clap like a standing ovation”). Continuing to infuse her region’s scene with danceable raps and a contagious upbeat energy, Myaap is on a steady ascent – she’s set to perform at MIKE‘s upcoming Young World Festival, in a lineup next to Earl Sweatshirt. Despite releasing her first track only a year ago, Myaap has quickly garnered a cult-like following, accumulating over 6 Million streams for the bass-heavy sound that’s become synonymous with Myaap – combining Southern bounce with more contemporary sounds coming out of the Chicago and Detroit street rap scenes. Looking forward to her upcoming YOP! EP with Nedarb (out 5/31), its lead single “Rotation” is out now.
