On the night of April 4th, 2025, Poison The Well took the stage at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, bringing with them a level of intensity and energy that had the crowd in a complete frenzy. This was more than just a concert, it was a triumphant return for one of the most influential bands in the hardcore and post-hardcore scenes. As fans packed into the Palladium for their biggest night on the tour, it was clear that this was going to be a night for the ages.

The Hollywood Palladium, with its iconic art deco design and massive capacity, was the perfect venue for the band’s highly anticipated 25th anniversary show of their album “The Opposite of December”. The sound system in the venue matched the energy of the performance, allowing every shriek, every riff, and every breakdown to pierce through the air with clarity. The combination of the venue’s size and its acoustics created an electric atmosphere that was amplified by the energy of both the band and the fans.

Before Poison The Well took the stage, three incredible opening acts warmed up the crowd. First, Teenage Wrist who’s performance was a perfect prelude to what was to come, gritty, raw, and just heavy enough to set the tone for the headliner.

Next up, Better Lovers, a rising star in the hardcore scene, brought the intensity to a whole new level with their blistering set. Their mix of melodic moments and brutal breakdowns resonated deeply with the crowd, and by the time they finished, the anticipation for Poison The Well was palpable.

The final opening act, Glassjaw, has built a huge following over their long career in the scene and this performance another mile makers in their career as this venue has been so good to them over years with fans singing every word to their melodic style of music. As their set concluded with some minor technical issues, the crowd was foaming with anticipation for the main event…

As the lights dimmed and the crowd erupted into cheers, Poison The Well walked on stage, greeted by an explosion of applause. They kicked off their set with “12/23/93”, an absolute classic that immediately took the crowd back to the early 2000s. The emotion and power in frontman Jeffrey Moreira’s voice were undeniable as he screamed out the opening lines. Every fan in the room seemed to know every word, singing along with passion and intensity.

The band wasted no time diving into the next song, “A Wish for Wings That Work”, which had the entire Palladium shaking. Guitarists Ryan Primack and Ariel Horowitz displayed their incredible technical prowess, while drummer Chris Hornbrook’s pounding beats reverberated throughout the venue. Bassist Kyle Weeks added a layer of groove that gave every song a sense of depth, making even the heaviest tracks feel incredibly dynamic.

What stood out most about this performance, however, was how seamless Poison The Well’s catalog flowed together. From fan favorites like “Crystal Lake” and “My Mirror No Longer Reflects”, to their more recent material, the band struck the perfect balance between nostalgia and growth. Their ability to blend chaos and melody has always been their signature, and it was on full display as they transitioned effortlessly between different eras of their career.

The crowd, a sea of passionate fans, never stopped moving. The mosh pits were as intense as ever, with people crowd-surfing and stage-diving throughout the night. It was clear that this wasn’t just a band performing songs; this was an experience that every fan had been waiting for.

While the entire set was a standout, there were a few moments that truly elevated the show. The band’s live debut of “Trembling Level” was nothing short of mesmerizing, with the entire crowd holding their breath as Jeffrey’s voice soared over the instrumentals. The raw emotion in that moment was palpable, creating a connection between the band and the audience that felt almost sacred.

As the night wound down, the band closed with a track that left fans screaming for more. They delivered a powerful rendition of “Nerdy” that sent the crowd into overdrive, ensuring the night ended on a high note. The cheers didn’t die down immediately after the band left the stage; the energy lingered in the air long after the house lights came up.

Poison The Well‘s show at the Hollywood Palladium on April 4th, 2025, was nothing short of a celebration of their legacy and their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots. The energy was palpable, the sound was incredible, and the crowd was as intense as ever. For longtime fans, it was a reminder of why this band remains a pillar of the hardcore and post-hardcore scenes. For newcomers, it was a chance to witness the sheer force of one of the most iconic bands of the genre in their prime.
