Located in the heart of the Parc de la Villette, Le Trabendo is one of Paris’s most storied intimate venues, defined by its industrial red architecture and the rare closeness it creates between artist and audience. On January 20th, the 700-capacity room became the ideal setting for a night anchored by Chicago lyricist Saba, supported by rising voices from Brooklyn and the Windy City.

The evening began with Radamiz, who set the tone with raw immediacy. Bringing the energy of a Brooklyn street corner to Paris’s 19th arrondissement, he delivered a performance driven as much by physical presence as lyrical precision. His punchy flow and relentless movement reflected an artist still sharpening his edge on the road, fighting for every second of the crowd’s attention. For the Parisian audience, Radamiz offered a gripping introduction—proof that hunger and storytelling translate effortlessly across borders.

That momentum carried into the set from Kaicrewsade, who arrived as both a bridge and a build-up to the night’s main event. Representing Chicago’s West Side and the new generation of the Pivot Gang collective, Kaicrewsade transformed Le Trabendo into a surge of motion. Backed by his DJ, he leaned into the venue’s intimacy, locking eyes with the front rows and pulling the room into a shared, high-energy experience. His urgent delivery and heavy-hitting production injected the space with Chicago’s pulse, priming the crowd for what was to come.

When Saba finally took the stage, the night reached its technical and emotional peak. Performing entirely live—without reliance on vocal backtracks—he immediately distinguished himself in an era of increasingly assisted performances. The choice underscored his exceptional breath control, rhythmic precision, and command of the room.

Moving fluidly between the jazz-inflected richness of Few Good Things and the introspective weight of his recent work with No I.D., Saba maintained a pace that felt both intense and meticulously controlled. His chemistry with the DJ was effortless, reinforcing the essence of his craft: authentic hip-hop stripped to its core, powered by nothing more than a voice, a beat, and a story worth hearing.

At Le Trabendo, Saba didn’t just headline—he affirmed why his voice remains one of Chicago’s most vital, resonating just as powerfully on a Parisian stage as it does back home.
