Single Review: Blake G.’s ‘The One For Me’ is an infectiously catchy Love song

In his new single ‘The One For Me,’ Miami-born singer Blake G. shows that he isn’t afraid to bare his soul and let his emotions show. If this single is anything to go by, it’s a successful strategy for the rapidly rising artist.

Blake G.’s latest single, ‘The One For Me,’ reminds us that pop songs geared toward the club can also be emotive statements about love and togetherness.

The artist, born and raised in Miami, Florida, has been releasing some of the most infectiously catchy pop songs recently – and he has built up a steady fanbase in the process.

Blake G. describes himself as of Italian descent, with traces of South African heritage from his father. He is a natural-born tenor, and his music has been inspired by his varied upbringing and his love for R&B and soul music.

But the true root of Blake G.’s love for singing came from the doo-wop crooners of the 50s and 60s – many of whom inspired Blake’s unique singing voice. He says he’s an “old soul,” which perhaps explains why he uses his music to tackle abiding subjects – such as love, hope, and romance.
