It’s a beautiful summer night in Salt Lake City and what better way to end it off with some classic Reggae music. The fans slowly trickled into The Complex. Fans picked up their Marley merchandise or quenched their thirst with some ice cold beer. Coming into the venue I noticed a lot of adults bringing in their family to expose their children to the wonderful and energetic culture of Reggae music.

The night was started by a band with infectious energy, soulful vocals, and captivating musicianship. Arise Roots didn’t waste any time and jumped right into the action. They were able to get the crowd to loosen up and dance right away. Reggae music is so easy to vibe and groove to, that even the least experienced dancers can truly enjoy the energy of the building. Fronted by an immensely talented vocalist, Arise Roots effortlessly blended elements of reggae, rock, and dub to create a unique and refreshing sound. The band’s tight-knit musicianship was on full display as they flawlessly navigated complex rhythms and melodic harmonies. Each member showcased their instrumental prowess, seamlessly weaving their individual contributions into a cohesive musical tapestry.

The lights dimmed, and the band members took their positions on stage. The rhythmic pulse of the bass and the skanking guitar chords instantly filled the air, setting the perfect foundation for Stephen Marley’s arrival. The moment he stepped on stage, the crowd erupted with cheers, and the atmosphere was charged with a collective energy that can only be experienced at a reggae concert.

Opening up with “Reggae on Broadway,” you automatically know that you are in the presence of the most prestigious family in Reggae. Throughout the concert, Stephen Marley skillfully weaved a tapestry of his own solo hits alongside classic Bob Marley anthems. Each song was delivered with an infectious energy, and the band’s tight-knit musicianship was a testament to their dedication and talent.
