The Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA hosted the Summer Road Trip Tour which included Train and REO Speedwagon Sunday night. The night started with cloudy skies as Atlanta’s Yacht Rock Revue took the stage with a warm welcome from the 8,700 people in attendance. The seven piece covered some of the greatest hits of the 70s and 80s starting with “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes which had the crowd on their feet and grooving the entire set until they finished with “Heart to Heart” by Kenny Loggins.

After an almost hour rain delay, the rock legends REO Speedwagon brought the show back to life with their hit song “Don’t Let Him Go”. Frontman Kevin Cronin had the crowd watching his every move as he danced across the stage with his guitar. Their #1 hit song “Can’t Fight the Feeling” erupted a sea of singing throughout the amphitheater. It was almost fitting for them to finish with “Ridin’ the Storm out” because you could see fans in the lawn sitting through the torrential downpours. The cheers were as loud as the thunder as REO Speedwagon left the stage, getting the crowd ready for Train.

California’s Train took the stage, everyone in the crowd stood in their seats and the cheers doubled as Pat Monahan joined the rest of the band. “Calling All Angels” off of the band’s third studio album, My Private Nation started and the crowd was taken by storm. Train surprised everyone as they covered “Over the Hills and Far Away” by Led Zeppelin. After a 16 song setlist, Train finished with “Hey Jude” and “Drops of Jupiter” which brought the nostalgia to life for all fans in attendance.
