The Deep shares debut album ‘KPOP B!TCH’

Korean underground-star The Deep has just released KPOP B!TCH, her long-anticipated debut album and first full-length body of work since emerging in 2019. At 10 tracks, KPOP B!TCH delivers a feature-free dive into The Deep’s 2000s-inspired electro-synth-pop, threaded with flashes of Korean hyper-pop, refining the hybrid sound she’s been shaping since 2019 and merging pop-forward melodies with the texture, personality, and idiosyncrasies of the underground. Fresh off a standout performance at STANDARD SEONGSU Vol.3 in Seoul alongside global names like Lancey Foux, Thaiboy Digital, and Effie, the album arrives as another defining moment in her ascent. With production by American hyper-pop duo Frost Children, Dorian Electra, South Korean producer-artist kimj, and more, the album is a cross-cultural exchange of sounds arranged by its executive producer, The Deep. The release marks a changing of the guard for the hyper-commercialized Korean music scene, the start of a new era in artist-first, DIY-driven music – arriving at a pivotal moment following her back-to-back singles “Lucky Star” and “KPOP B!TCH” the release of “MY UNNIES” with kimj, SEBii and Effie, her remix of f5ve’s “Magic Clock” with kimj.
The Deep is an independent Korean artist whose work blends UK garage, Y2K aesthetics and electronic pop into a sound that sits firmly outside the conventions of mainstream K-pop. She first emerged through singles “Muah!”, and “BAPPI”, building a growing international audience drawn to both her music and visual identity. While K-pop remains one of the world’s most structured entertainment ecosystems, a parallel wave is emerging, independent Korean musicians building global audiences through the internet, community-driven interaction, and self-made visual worlds. The Deep is one of the leaders of this new wave of young artists alongside collaborators Effie, kimj, 9lives and more, taking a path defined by direct connection and self-direction instead of scale or system. She maintains an close relationship with listeners, frequently interacting with them and inviting them into her creative process. Her independence extends to the work itself: she handles mixing, artwork, video editing, merch design and the layout of her physical albums, shaping a self-directed artistic world that defines her approach, through this she reframes how K-pop looks. Her 2024 EP Electric Pink , expanded her profile internationally, leading to collaborations with DPR ARTIC, kimj, Effie, and 9lives. She has performed as an opening act for f5ve in Osaka, showcased at SXSW London, and appeared in events with YETI OUT, scr radio and Eastern Margins. Her releases have earned recognition across Korean and global platforms, with “Messy Room” charting on the Genius Korea Editorial Playlist and “BAPPI” included in Clash magazine’s “25 Best Female K-pop Songs of 2023”. Her work has also been featured in PAPER and Vogue France, positioning her as part of a new wave of independent Korean artists gaining international attention.
