TRUENO IS FEATURED ON NEW GORILLAZ SINGLE “THE MANIFESTO” ALONGSIDE THE LATE PROOF

Following the triumphant surprise debut of new music last month and the release of their first single, “The Happy Dictator” featuring Sparks, Gorillaz return with “The Manifesto” featuring Trueno and Proof, the second track from their upcoming studio album ‘The Mountain.’
“The Manifesto” expands on the album’s themes of life, death, and transcendence through the extraordinary talent of Argentine global rap prodigy Trueno, a Latin GRAMMY winner, who delivers a sharp lyrical meditation: Yo no sé qué va a pasar mañana / Cuando atienda la luz que me llama / Mami mi futuro me reclama / Camino hacia la luz / I have nothing to lose. The song takes a profound turn when it’s suddenly interrupted by a posthumous verse from the late Detroit rapper Proof, member of D12 and Gorillaz collaborator, who declares: You aren’t ready for death / Until I showed up, hold breath / Until you blow the on one set.The freestyle was captured just minutes before Proof entered the booth during one of Gorillaz’s early recording sessions — an emotional and historic moment connecting generations of hip-hop.
Produced by Gorillaz, James Ford, Samuel Egglenton, Remi Kabaka Jr., and Bizarrap (Orange County), The Manifesto embodies the collaborative spirit of The Mountain. The track also features sarod virtuosos Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash from India’s renowned Gwalior lineage, the celebratory brass of the legendary Jea Band Jaipur, Ajay Prasanna on bansuri flute, and The Mountain Choir led by Vijayaa Shanker, creating an otherworldly and transcendent soundscape. Russel Hobbs described the project as “a meditation infused with light — a soul’s journey through sound.” The Mountain will be released March 20, 2026 via KONG — promising to be Gorillaz’s most expansive and collaborative record yet.

The Mountain Tour will kick off (with Trueno opening the dates) on March 21, 2026 in Manchester, visiting arenas across the UK and Ireland, including sold-out dates in Glasgow and Cardiff. Due to overwhelming demand, second shows have been added in Manchester and Dublin. The tour will culminate in a historic headline performance at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20, 2026, marking Gorillaz’s biggest UK show to date.
Recognized by Uproxx as part of the Next Wave of Latin Music Stars, Trueno’s inclusion in The Manifesto highlights his growing global influence and bridges the worlds of Latin hip-hop and alternative music in a way few artists have achieved. The honor comes on the heels of Trueno leading this year’s Latin GRAMMY nominations as the most nominated rapper, earning three nods: Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song for “FRESH,” Best Urban Song for “EN LA CITY” featuring Young Miko, and Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song alongside Akapellah for “Parriba.”
