Unplugged Performance Targets Tesla Model 3 Efficiency With New Range Booster Package Following 2,871-Mile 100% FSD (Supervised) Run With Zero Interventions
A Tesla Model 3 wearing Unplugged Performance’s new Range Booster Package used 4.2% less energy per mile than it did stock, averaging 238.9 Wh/mi on a 2,871-mile drive from Southern California to New York City on Full Self-Driving (Supervised) across the country. The package goes on sale at $6,093 for all 2024+ Model 3 trims and includes the four upgrades on that car: 18-inch UP-RW Forged Wheels, a High Efficiency Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler, a Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser Trim Extension, and a Moderate Lowering Spring Set. Parts can be purchase individually as well.
The car belongs to Zack Feldstein, @BLKMDL3 on X, who drove it with Dan Burkland @DBurkland and Aaron Shaffer @AaronS5_. The team reports finishing the entire drive in his 2025 Model 3 Long Range RWD on FSD (Supervised) with zero disengagements and zero interventions. Elapsed time: 45 hours, 37 minutes, and 50.91 seconds.
On Zack’s previous FSD cross-country run in the same car, before it had the package, it averaged 248.4 Wh/mi.

“The Unplugged Performance Range Booster Package made a massive difference in efficiency, contributing to our new FSD Cannonball Run Record, we cut our needed charging stops and charging time noticeably” said Feldstein. “Tesla built an incredible platform and UP helped us improve even further.”
The two trips are a real-world comparison, not a controlled test. Route, weather, and traffic were different each time, and all three affect how much energy a car uses, and Tesla FSD software is constantly evolving.
Why Aero Matters at Highway Speeds
The standard advice for an EV road trip is to slow down. It works because aerodynamic drag rises with the square of speed, so at 80 mph, legal on long stretches of Utah interstate, drag is about 50% higher than at 65. Drivers end up trading time for range, cruising under the limit and adding hours to the trip.
Aero upgrades pay off most at exactly those speeds. The Range Booster Package is built for owners who would rather drive the speed limit and still get there efficiently. The faster you typically drive, the more range-improving modifications will benefit Tesla owners.

The Drive
The run started at the Portofino Inn and Marina in Redondo Beach and ended at Red Ball Garage in New York City. The team charged only at Tesla Superchargers, stopped 23 times, and took a southern route because of the weather.
Conditions included heavy rain, wind, construction, mountain fog, traffic, and toll plazas. The team reports that no one touched the turn signals, accelerator pedal, or gear selector, and that no aftermarket hardware or software was used to alter FSD. The air conditioning stayed on, and phones, cameras, laptops, and a Starlink Mini all ran off the car.
Tesla FSD (Supervised) requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle autonomous. The zero-intervention result is the team’s own report from this one trip.

What’s in the Package
- 18-inch UP-RW Forged Wheels: Forged 6061-T6 aluminum, 22.4 lb per wheel, with an aero disc built into the design. In development simulations, the UP-RW came within 0.010 Cd of Tesla’s 18-inch Photon wheel with its plastic aero cover installed. Put simply, it nearly matches Tesla’s covered aero wheel with no snap-on cover at all. Comes with stock-size Hankook iON EVO AS 235/45R18 tires.
- High Efficiency Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler: Shapes the airflow coming off the trunk lid.
- Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser Trim Extension: Lengthens the factory diffuser and adds two central strakes to guide air through the rear tunnel.
- Moderate Lowering Spring Set: Lowers the ride height to reduce drag, and gives the car a better stance.
The spoiler and diffuser extension come in gloss or satin carbon fiber.
