BEKS RELEASES MELODRAMA REMIX WITH JAMES HURR AND ALESSIA LABATE
Australian electro-pop artist BEKS releases a new remix of fan favourite Melodrama with house DJ and Toolroom favourite James Hurr (Tiesto, Alok, Kylie) and Italian vocalist Alessia Labate (Armin Van Buuren, Sophie & the Giants), giving the track a high-energy tech house vibe.
BEKS has also just featured as a guest judge on the opening episode of the current season of Drag Race Down Under vs The World, where Melodrama featured as the lip sync battle song, marking another major career milestone for one of Australia’s fastest-rising queer music artists. Since the episode aired, BEKS’ following has grown by more than 10,000, with a huge wave of support coming from the Philippines following her connection with Filipino Queen M1ssJadeSo.
UK DJ and producer James Hurr brings his high-energy, 90s-inspired tech house sound to the remix, with over 300 million Spotify streams and collaborations with Tiesto, Alok, Armin Van Buuren and Mark Knight. Whilst Italian vocalist and songwriter Alessia Labate, whose EDM career includes collaborations with Armin Van Buuren, Like Mike and Anfisa Letyago, with her vocals on Armin’s “Gimme The Love” surpassing 8 million Spotify stream, brings a fresh new verse to the fan-loved song.
The release follows a huge 18 months for the Australian singer-songwriter, whose debut EP Hard Gloss established her as one of the most exciting new voices in electro-pop. Produced by PALMR and mixed by Tim Rowkins (Lady Gaga, Rina Sawayama), the project earned billboard placement from SoundCloud in London, while fan favourite Melodrama has picked up serious momentum throughout 2026 thanks to viral fan remixes, social media, being included on Amazon Music Australia’s PROUD playlist and its high-profile Drag Race placement. BEKS also released a Melodrama remix with DJ Vnssa and queer pop-star Bentley Robles and is going viral on social media with her recent track ‘Terf Werk’ supporting Trans rights.
Blending shimmering electro-pop with EDM and guitar-driven rock, BEKS has built an international following through sold-out headline shows across Australia, London and Europe, as well as performances at Mighty Hoopla, London Pride, Sydney Mardi Gras, Amsterdam Pride and numerous LGBTQ+ festivals worldwide. She has also toured with artists including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Princess Superstar, Madelline and Australian rock icons The Superjesus.
With more new music, live dates and international projects on the horizon, this release is another defining moment in what is proving to be a breakout year, and working with James Hurr and Alessia Labate has given Melodrama a whole new fierce energy.
