ESPN’S US Open coverage is most-viewed since 2022 through third round

ESPN’s exclusive live coverage of the US Open is the most-viewed since 2022 through the completion of the third round on Saturday, Sept. 5.

With Friday’s Day 6 coverage averaging 1.1M viewers across ESPN and ESPN2, up 17% over 2025, and Saturday’s Day 7 coverage on ESPN2 averaging 1.1M viewers, up 37% over 2025, the tournament is averaging 846K viewers through the completion of Round 3. The full-tournament average so far is up 5% over 2025 and the most viewed since 2022, the year of Serena Williams’ final match before her return this year.

Friday’s viewership was boosted by Serena and Venus Williams competing in doubles during primetime, attracting an average audience of 1.2M (peak 2.2M from 10-10:15 p.m. ET) as they lost a three-set match to Hao-Ching Chan and Maya Joint.

The third round across ESPN and ESPN2 averaged 1.1M, up +27% from last year and also standing as the most-viewed since 2022. ESPN2’s Saturday daytime telecast averaged 1M viewers, up +31% from the comparable telecast last year, while ESPN2’s prime window (1.1M viewers) was up +43%.
