evilgiane surprise drops new instrumental album ‘Giane 2’ via Surf Gang Records

On the heels of his opening set at Snow Strippers’ sold-out Terminal 5 headlining show in NYC this past weekend, Surf Gang founder evilgiane has returned with the surprise release of new instrumental album Giane 2—out now via Surf Gang Records. Serving as the follow-up to 2022 project Giane, Giane 2 is a headlong dive into his electronic and instrumental interests outside the rap world and boasts features from composer Rue Jacobs as well as Clams Casino. Drawing on the idiosyncrasies of Giane’s work, Giane 2 transcends genre, criss-crossing electronica through bloghouse, braindance, trance, and ambient. The project arrives amidst his current run on the Snow Strippers North America Tour and offers a unique snapshot of an artist in a constant state of orbital and creative expansion.

Part of Giane’s magic is his ability to form creative relationships across the sonic spectrum, from BBY GOYARD to Dean Blunt. Browsing the 23 tracks of #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1, you’ll find close collaborators like LUCY (Cooper B. Handy), Slimesito (with whom Giane made the 2024 EP EVILSLIME), and xaviersobased (alongside Nettspend on the minute-long megahit “40”), as well as less frequent co-conspirators like Rx Papi, 03 Greedo, and Robb Bank$. It’s not just vocalists, either—some of Giane’s most fruitful collaborations have been with other producers, from fellow Surf Gang members Harrison and Eera to Clams Casino, one of his longtime inspirations.
