JHENÉ AIKO RELEASES NEW ORIGINAL SONG “VOTE,” VIA DEF JAM RECORDINGS – “VOTE” WAS FEATURED ON ABC’S ‘BLACK-ISH’ ELECTION SPECIAL YESTERDAY!

Jhené Aiko – the Grammy-nominated artist and songwriter whose #1 album CHILOMBO is now certified platinum – has recorded a new original song “Vote,” which was used in this past Sunday’s one-hour “black-ish” election special on ABC.

“Now more than ever it is vital that we all VOTE,” said Jhené. “It was an honor working with ‘black-ish’ to bring you this song.”

The track was released for streaming ahead of the show, at midnight EST on Saturday.

The Johnsons and “black-ish” return to ABC with a one-hour television special on SUNDAY, OCT. 4 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT) ahead of the season seven premiere. The two back-to-back episodes followed the Johnsons as they navigate the upcoming election, with Junior (Marcus Scribner) embarking on his journey as a first-time voter and Dre (Anthony Anderson) launching an exploration into local politics. The special was presented in part as an animated episode. Oscar® winner Matthew A. Cherry (“Hair Love”) directed the special episode. The official season seven premiere will air on WEDNESDAY, OCT 21.

Released in March, CHILOMBO debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B charts with the largest first-week album sales for any female R&B artist since Beyonce’s Lemonade. The album, which has yielded 3 platinum and 2 gold singles, reached #1 again in late July with the release of the Deluxe edition. Jhené Aiko has garnered over 7.5 Billion streams in her career.
