LANDON SMITH ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP RECKON SO OUT JUNE 27TH
Rising singer, songwriter, and guitarist Landon Smith announces his debut EP Reckon So EP out June 27th – pre-save HERE. Accompanied by the announcement, Landon unveils a brand new single entitled “The Barn” out now via Lucille/MCA/Republic.
“Everyone has a barn. It could be a basement, a shop, or an unsupervised living room while your parents are gone for the weekend. The barn wasn’t a place; it was a group of people…people who would get together and party like the like it was December 31, 1999 at 11:59 pm…With no care in the world if tomorrow wasn’t there, just people who truly lived in the moment.
I wrote this song in high school about my group of friends and the place we would all end up at every Friday night. Without fail, we would always find a way to make it to the nearest Waffle House and back safely. Only for Dallas to scream ‘PLAY THE BARN,’ so I did. And by the first line of the song, I would be drowned out by everyone else singing lyrics I wrote about them. I hope anyone who listens to this song screams it as loud as me and my friends have for countless years. The Barn Will Never Die!”
-Landon Smith
“The Barn” channels the reckless freedom and unabashed innocence of growing up. A palm-muted riff sets the tempo for the track, and Landon’s gritty delivery evokes the spirit of a weekend night in high school that you wish would never end. It culminates on the carefree chorus, “What do I care? I’m just here for the boys and the beer and the air, you can take my ass on back to the barn!” It illuminates the spirit and soul at the heart of his sound.
It lands on the heels of “If Whiskey Were Free.” This intoxicating anthem instantly incited critical applause. “If Whiskey Were Free” followed a string of recent releases, including “GFU” and “Weekend,” both praised as “best new country songs” by Holler.
Stacking up tens of millions of streams independently, Landon attracted the likes of Dave Cobb to his corner. Cobb welcomed Landon to his studio in Savannah, GA, where they cut “GFU,” “Weekend,” and more music to come in 2025.
Landon is set to perform at CMA Fest in Nashville for MCA’s Sounds Like Nashville Live at the Fifth + Broadway Skydeck on June 5th.
Earlier this year, Landon took the stage at GATAJAM Festival opening for Riley Green, Ella Langley, and more in Statesboro, GA marking his largest show to date with so much more in store for 2025!
