TINASHE’S NEW ALBUM POPSTAR DEBUTS AT #6 ON THE BILLBOARD 200

Multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter, producer and DJ Tinashe’s new album Popstar debuts at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart and dominates across charts globally. This marks her highest career charting debut, selling over 35,500 copies in its first week, becoming an immediate cultural phenomenon.

Other Billboard chart accolades include debuting at #2 for Indie Store Album Sales, #2 Top Digital Album Sales, #3 Vinyl Albums and #4 Top Album Sales. 

The Bonus edition of the album reached #1 on the US iTunes Album chart. Popstar entered the Top 10 on the U.S. Apple Music Albums Chart, marking the first time an album of hers has achieved a top 10 placement on that chart.

The album debuted at No. 2 on Spotify’s Global and U.S. Top Albums Debut charts. Standout album track “Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore” debuted in the Top 10 on Spotify’s U.S. Top Songs Debut chart. Outside of the US, the album landed within the Top 10 in Australia. 

Popstar has also received widespread praise and immediate critical acclaim from media, celebrities, and fans alike. Fellow artists including SZA,Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, Clairo have shown their support across social media, while Tinashe’s dedicated fanbase rallied behind the album using #UpliftTinashe to create a global viral moment in support. 

Pitchfork gave her an outstanding 9.0 rating, which made Popstar their highest rated album this year and Best New Album, while simultaneously naming “Popstar” Best New Track.

The genre spanning 16-track LP features production from Ricky Redd, Zach Sekoff, Fred Ball, Kingdom, Dave Hamelin, Machinedrum, Arca, Illangelo, Camper, kimj, nightfeelings, Couros, Casey Mattson, and Andrew Wells. Popstar features previously released singles, “Too Easy,” “Crash Out,” “Pillow Fight,” and “I’d Rather Be Alone.” With the release of the full project, Tinashe is redefining her version of a Popstar and capturing the most honest version of herself, where she is no longer allowing anyone to box her in or categorize her in one genre. With Popstar, Tinashe immerses her fans into her current era: one filled with defiant and unapologetic anthems, paired with high-energy, choreography filled visuals to match that continue to show off her innate ability to flawlessly blend genres and pave her own path. 

Next up, Tinashe will play three headlining shows this fall in Chicago on October 16th, Brooklyn on October 24th and Los Angeles on November 7th. Pre-sale tickets sold out almost immediately, making it her fastest-selling pre-sale to date and general on-sale tickets also sold out shortly after. These shows will see Tinashe perform Popstar on stage for the first time.

Popstar comes off Tinashe’s back to back #1 charting hits with “No Broke Boys” with Disco Lines and “Nasty.” “No Broke Boys” with Disco Lines hit number 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and remained for several weeks. The track was nominated at this year’s BRIT awards for “International Song of the Year,” at the 2026 American Music Awards for Social Song of the Year and won Dance Song of the Year at the 2026 iHeart Radio Music Awards. The song originally appeared on her album, Quantum Baby, which also featured her #1 hit single “Nasty.” “Nasty” propelled to new heights and upon release, was lauded as the song of summer by many in 2024.
