Toyota, Cars, Car News, EV, Electric Cars, Discovery Channel

When is a car more than a car?

Answer: When it’s a mobile power generator, a home backup system and even a device that could help maintain energy resilience amid an ever more burdened electrical grid. As part of Toyota’s multi-pathway approach, battery electric vehicles offer the promise of being able to help you get from more than just Point A to Point B.

That’s the focus of Tomorrow’s World Today episode 2 “Power Ping Pong,” which features Toyota experts and technologies in development that aim to take on energy resilience and grid management. The episode is schedule to air Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. ET on the Science Channel and Sunday, May 17 at 7 a.m. across all U.S. time zones on the Discovery Channel.

Toyota subject-matter experts include Norman Lu (Enterprise Strategy & Solutions); Cody Emmert (Vehicle Marketing); Maddy Strutner (Home Energy Management Systems) as well as Apoorv Bhargava, CEO and co-founder of WeaveGrid, a grid-edge orchestration software provider for electric utilities. In the episode, they meet with field reporter Greg Costantino and host George Davison to discuss how they are bringing new dimensions to BEVs and the infrastructure that supports them.

Now in its 10th season, Tomorrow’s World Today explores how things are made and what the future looks like. Episodes air on the Science Channel and Discovery Channel.  Fans can also find every episode from Seasons 1-9 on the Tomorrow’s World Today YouTube channel and listen to the TWT podcast, where host George Davison is hosting Norman Lu for a longer, supplemental interview.
