Dermot Kennedy Shares New Live Video For “Better Days”
Platinum-selling singer/songwriter Dermot Kennedy has shared his stunning new live music video for “Better Days”. Filmed in London, the clip features Dermot giving a stirring live performance of “Better Days,” accompanied by an interpretative dance choreographed by Talia Favia (Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance) as performed by dancer Josh Denyer. The expressive sequence perfectly compliments the emotional heart of the song which Billboard called, “a well-timed, uplifting pop ballad.”
Talia Favia has been inspired by Dermot’s music, having choreographed dance to some of his previously released tracks. With “Better Days” marrying the impact of dance to Dermot’s powerful music was the perfect opportunity for the two to join forces once again given the lyrical sentiment of the song. Favia comments, “Dermot’s music has a power that can heal, break, inspire, and challenge the heart all at one time. I believe his true gift is his ability to tap into the most vulnerable and honest parts of people through his lyrics. With ‘Better Days’ it was paramount for me to portray that honesty and bring it life through movement. I am so excited for the world to experience this hauntingly beautiful track in a new way.”
“Better Days,” co-written by Dermot and Grammy-nominated Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes), ROMANS (Lewis Capaldi, Khalid), Daniel Nigro (Olivia Rodrigo “drivers license”) and previous collaborator Carey Willetts, with production by Nigro. Since its release the track has amassed over 16 million streams, while the official music video directed by Paul Gore (Jennifer Lopez, Massive Attack) has over 4 million+ views watch it HERE.
Having just wrapped back-to-back stops at both Austin City Limits and Shaky Knees festivals, Kennedy is also confirmed to support Shawn Mendes on the first leg of his 2022 North American “Wonder The World Tour.” Kicking off June 27th in Portland and continuing throughout the summer, tickets are on-sale now; more information is available at wonderthetour.com.
Dermot recently performed for Truly Hard Seltzer’s “Truly Inspired” virtual concert series, which streamed on the Live Nation Channel on Twitch in September and garnered an impressive one million views in the US alone. Curated by Dua Lipa and co-created and produced by Live Nation, Dermot was one of three artists featured chosen by Lipa, along with American hip-hop duo EARTHGANG, and Korean-American singer, DJ, and producer Yaeji as her truly inspirational artists. This follows a first meeting where Dua was reduced to tears by Dermot’s formidable vocals when she raved, “You moved me to tears it was just amazing.” Kennedy also counts Taylor Swift as another famous fan, who sang the praises of the “poetic” Irishman and posted his music in a Spotify playlist.
Winning over a legion of devoted fans and 23 million Spotify listeners he has amassed 2.5 billion total streams and has the best-selling debut album in his native Ireland of this millennium. Without Fear, Dermot’s impassioned debut album has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide, making him a platinum-selling artist in over 12 countries. Notably, both of his singles, “Outnumbered” and the Meduza collaboration “Paradise,” were recently certified Gold, with “Paradise” streaming over 500 million times.
