“I wrote ‘Oxygen’ during a cabin trip in Index, Washington with a few friends,” says Shaya Zamora, “where we spent days trading lyrics and pieces of ourselves through the songs we were creating. For me, this song came from the fear of losing myself, hurting the people I love, and realizing I needed others to hold on to me while I learned how to become better. Months later, a friend asked, ‘Is this song about your mom?’ and it made me realize the song could mean something completely different to each person who hears it. My hope is that everyone who listens finds their own story somewhere in this record.”
