TERRACE MARTIN DROPS NEW ALBUM “FINE TUNE”
FIRST ALBUM RELEASE VIA SOUNDS OF CRENSHAW AND BMG LABEL PARTNERSHIP; A SERIES OF SIX JAZZ ALBUMS SET TO BE RELEASED THROUGHOUT 2023
Grammy®-nominated artist and producer Terrace Martin shares his newest project Fine Tune. Focused on developing new talent and incorporating the legacy of jazz, this is Martin’s first project via the Sounds of Crenshaw and BMG partnership on a series of six jazz albums set to be released throughout 2023, all curated and executive produced by Martin. Opening track “Degnan Dreams” establishes the mood of the project, a nod to Martin’s Crenshaw roots, this song is a tempered jazz orchestration with a brisk pace that is strengthened by the talents of Keyon Harrold, Justin Tyson, and Dominique Sanders.
The track saunters and sways, a dose of leisure measured with horns and drums. Martin’s command feels effortless, leading with charisma and his second-to-none musical instincts. His musicality is on full display across Fine Tune’s 12 airy tracks with his lush interpolation of SZA’s hit song “Snooze” – the first single release announcing the album. Alongside him on the record is an all-star lineup of musicians and trusted collaborators, including Cory Henry, James Fauntleroy, and Dinner Party contemporaries Robert Glasper and Kamasi Washington. A masterclass in curation from the genius of Martin, Fine Tune is pure bliss.
Martin has been a guiding force in contemporary music for more than a decade. Beginning at a young age, Martin was an exceptional instrumentalist; from the drums to piano, to the saxophone, Martin’s talents have known no bounds. Naturally, his skills took him to Hollywood where he made his big break producing for Power 106 Radio. This rush of success prompted Martin to create his debut album Signal Flow in 2011. Since his first record, Martin has collaborated with artists like Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Kurupt, Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort, Ty Dolla $ign, Ab-Soul, The Game, Travis Scott, Busta Rhymes, Stevie Wonder, and more. Martin’s discography consists of over 10 complete records, not including pieces he contributed, produced, or featured on. One of Martin’s most successful feats was collaborating with Kendrick Lamar early on in Section.80 and then in both Grammy-nominated albums good kid, m.A.A.d city and To Pimp a Butterfly. Martin’s release of 2021’s DRONES was Grammy-nominated this year for Best Progressive R&B Album and features acts such as Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, YG, Cordae, Robert Glasper, Leon Bridges, James Fauntleroy and more.
