Toyota Texas is broadening its presence with a substantial investment of $531 million, which will introduce more than 400 new, high-quality jobs to San Antonio. A new 500,000-square-foot facility on-site will be specifically dedicated to the production of drivetrain parts, further solidifying Toyota’s commitment to reinvesting profits into its U.S. operations.

Susann Kazunas, the president of Toyota Texas, expressed, “Our team members are primed for this new opportunity to enhance our plant’s capabilities and workforce. They are highly skilled, innovative, and have an unwavering dedication to our products. We take pride in celebrating that spirit and the long-term job stability that this investment signifies, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming 400 new team members to Toyota Texas.”

For nearly two decades, Toyota Texas has been producing top-tier trucks and SUVs, with over 181,000 vehicles assembled just last year. The total investment in the plant has now exceeded $4.7 billion.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated, “Texas takes pride in being the home of a global powerhouse like Toyota. For more than two decades, Texas has hosted Toyota manufacturing. The new $531 million investment by Toyota Texas to expand their manufacturing facility in San Antonio, which will create over 400 well-paying jobs, is a testament to Texas’ unparalleled business-friendly environment, low taxes, and young, growing, and skilled workforce. I express my gratitude to Toyota for their continued expansion in Texas, and I am eager to fortify our partnership as we strive to build a larger, superior Texas for future generations.”

San Antonio Mayor, Ron Nirenberg, declared, “This is a remarkable triumph for both the City of San Antonio and Toyota Texas. Our community will see the creation of over 400 stable, high-quality jobs, showcasing Toyota’s readiness to continue investing in the people of San Antonio. We take immense pride in this corporate partnership, and I am excited about the great things that San Antonio and Toyota Texas will continue to construct together.”

This investment also bolsters the plant’s adaptability with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies as the company broadens its diverse capabilities across its North American operations.

Bexar County Judge, Peter Sakai, expressed, “It is thrilling to witness Toyota expand its presence in Southern Bexar County. I anticipate the creation of hundreds of new jobs and a boost to our local economy, particularly benefiting the area school districts. Toyota has been a faithful and committed community partner for two decades, and this initiative demonstrates the confidence one of the world’s leading companies has in Bexar County’s future.”

Christopher Rivera, a team leader at Toyota Texas, shared, “Job stability, growth, and competitive pay are all reasons why I developed a passion for assembling trucks at Toyota. During my 17-year career with Toyota, I have personally experienced Toyota’s commitment to our team. It is exhilarating to contribute to bringing new capabilities to our plant.”

Toyota Texas is the sole producer of the Tundra truck and the all-hybrid Sequoia SUV, both of which are assembled on the same production line.
