Yannick Ngakoue (yah-NEEK in-GAH-kway) joins the Vikings after spending the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ngakoue (6-2, 246), who earned Pro Bowl honors for the 2017 season, has appeared in 63 career regular-season games (62 starts) totaling 122 career tackles, 37.5 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and two career defensive touchdowns (one interception return, one fumble recovery return). Ngakoue has also appeared in three playoff games, all starts, recording four tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in his postseason career. His 37.5 sacks are the most by a Jaguars player through 63 career games in franchise history and ranks second all-time in the team’s history behind Tony Brackens’ 55.0 career sacks.

During his Pro Bowl season in 2017, Ngakoue tallied a career-high 12.0 sacks and led the NFL with six forced fumbles. Entering 2020, Ngakoue has four consecutive seasons (2016-19) with at least eight sacks, trailing only Aaron Donald (six consecutive seasons), Von Miller (six), Chandler Jones (five) and Khalil Mack (five) for the longest such active streak in the NFL. Ngakoue, who majored in African American studies while at the University of Maryland, was a third-round selection (69th overall) by the Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft after setting the school record for sacks in a single season with 13.5 during his junior season in 2015. The 25-year-old is a native of Bowie, Maryland, and attended Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C.
